Personal Narrative: My Love For Basketball

My love for basketball started from my father taking me to see the Denver Nuggets. Music has always been a big part of my life. I have been writing music since 6th grade, It has always been like an escape for me. I can listen to literally anything and can enjoy it, my brother was the main person that got me into music, he would show me all the latest albums and would even show me oldies and classics such as Wu-Tang clan and The Isley-Brothers. During the end of my ninth grade year, my brother was awaiting sentencing for intent to sell drugs, This was a wake-up call , Not only for him but for me as well . I hated where my brother was going and saw that I needed to change my own life to avoid his mistakes. I began putting all my effort into school, basketball, and getting a job to help my mom. Life was going smoothly, During winter of my 10th-grade year, my mother had a baby boy who was diagnosed with Down's syndrome and with heart problems. The doctors did not know if he would make it. I prayed every single day until he was in good condition and able to leave the hospital. I told myself from that day forward, I would be the best example for my little brother and would do everything necessary for a better life. Not just for me, but for him and my family. …show more content…
He came out a different man, Sober for over two years and is doing phenomenal. He has a job and is helping my mother out with bills. My little brother is now almost two years old and is also doing phenomenal. Now able to crawl I soon hope I can teach him how to play basketball. My mother is also in a better position not only financially, but emotionally I am now a manager at my job and have played for my school's varsity basketball team. Both my English and Spanish skills have helped me earn my spot as a manager at my job. I have also served my community by serving in places such as the road home and being in Latinos in
