On Your Own
Description of the Task
In this POW I am trying to find a job and start my life after high-school. I have to move out and find an apartment. I will have to provide my own financial support. Also I need to get a job that will help me with my house/apartment and my college.
Your Job
My job is working at an Apple for 40 hours a week. The income per month is $1,953 dollars. I found this job by having an iphone and I always wanted to work there. I will work there 8 hours a week and work on the computers there. Every week we each get 450$ dollars.
Your Living Arrangement
I am living with three other roommates in a house in Dorchester, Massachusetts. Dorchester because it’s near Cambridge, which is near the colleges that we like. The roommates are Kayla, Anthony, and Aryan.Every month we have 3,391 dollars left over after all the bills and everything else because the bills cost money. We will split the money into four and that leaves $847 dollars for each of us.

Our house is furnished already so we will not have to buy furniture instead we can save our money. My roommates and I decided on this budget because we felt like it was reasonable and it was best for our jobs and our house.
Self-Assessment
I learned that living on your own is very hard to do and that in real life I will not have as much things I do in this POW. This will help me in real life because when I start my life after high-school I will know a little bit about budget and living

Since I was born, New York City has been my life, my blood, and bones; I have grown and lived with many different people with different backgrounds. My neighborhoods have shaped me into who I am today, I am flexible and open, like raw clay, enough to be changed and formed. Then there is the Bronx, a borough of New York, where you have to be strong, or you will not survive, a place where all races are together, and everyone is noisy. I live in a community where there are mostly Hispanics, and where there are always car passing by and honking, during the day it is the only sound you can here, and ear-piercing bird calls, but during the night there is always some kind of party, either that or just really loud music. I have grown to get use…

My residential community has had a great impact on me. The community provides an ideal atmosphere to meet a variety of people. Not only does the residential community promote diversity and inclusion, but it has also granted me the unique opportunity of leading in a college atmosphere. After arriving at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, I started spending most of my time in the lobby because my room did not have air conditioning. While in the lobby, I met a racially and geographically diverse group of people.…

The crisp breeze rustled my hair as I walked out of my house on the fall September day with my dad drilling instructions into my head. It was my first Little League baseball game ever, and my dad wanted to make sure it wasn’t my last. Being seven years old and never touching a baseball was something that had scared me; a lot. I had no idea what to think about this foreign, petrifying, game could possibly be about. The car ride from my house was only a few minutes away from the fields where I would begin my baseball career.…

I believe that my personal background, and my success despite the adversity that I have faced is an essential part of who I am. The first of my struggles came from being born to two teenage parents without at least a high school education, and although my mother went on to get a GED and to college my father did not. Many people in my family had issues with substance abuse and addictions including my father. Although, I was raised by my mother and grandmother, my father’s actions and behaviors negatively impacted my life. My father was verbally and mentally abusive to the people around him, especially when he used alcohol.…

Though I had quite a few expenses that were necessary, many of my expenses I had to make tough decisions about and think about the opportunity cost. Taxes were a necessity that I had to pay, as was insurance. But, I decided to buy a less expensive house and pay for transportation rather than buying an expensive house and not needing transportation. I bought a two bedroom house in Federal Way, which is a 30-50 minute drive away from my work downtown. Though this can be a long commute, I lucked out and was able to rent two cheap cars that don’t have too much mileage on them.…

The job I chose for this project was a construction crew worker for the construction company Cleary Building Corporation (corp) in Summerset which offers work all year round and a steady income. I picked this job because I have had some personal experience in the construction field and I tend to enjoy it. I like to work on my feet and with my hands. I would rather not have a desk job doing the same thing every day. On average construction jobs offer higher pay than other jobs available to people with no experience.…
