On Tuesday, January 12, 2010, which was during the time I was in Haiti. It was one year before I even came to the U.S.A. That day, in the morning, I went to school and everything was alright. The school that I went to was open 7am to 2:45 pm, when school was over that day I planned to stay after school to study for one of the exam that I was going to take the next morning, but I didn’t stay, I went home.
When I got home at 3:30 pm, I said hi to my parents. I was getting ready to go to my aunt’s house to go study for the test. I was on my way to my aunt’s house, and I had forgotten to get my agenda on the table next to my giant bookcase. I went back to get the agenda, and when stepped inside the house. Have you ever loved someone so much, you’d give an arm for them? Not the expression, no literally give an arm for? Growing up in Haiti with my brother, I remember teasing and pushing him around, because thats what big brothers are supposed to do. One of the things I remember most vividly about him was waking up every morning to play soccer with a tennis ball we found, and racing each other all through town with our hands behind our backs pretending we were cars. Everyday wasn’t always perfect, like those days we spent chasing each other because we fought, just like all siblings, and I didn't always appreciate having a younger brother.…

So grateful for what you’re doing in Haiti this week. It’s always encouraging to me to see people like you using their time and talents for God-honoring, Christ-exalting tasks like what your doing in Haiti. Commencing Unbound A lurid, fuchsia dress with generously powdered glitter and blaring, familiar music danced to by relatives you weren't even aware were relatives are trademarks of the traditional rite of passage into adulthood in my culture and one I never had the pleasure to experience due to my family's financial situation at that time. Still, my own stride into coming of age was too one with renowned garb, although much less garish. Familiar music playing in the background and only my immediate family sat close to the stage in awe to watch me. Graduating from my esteemed high school, Design and Architecture Senior High (DASH), was the omega to the alpha of my future. That experience both humbled me and triggered the tenacity in me to…

A most meaningful part in my life was the first time I ever went to Haiti, the summer of 2013 was the first time I ever went to my parent’s hometown country, I was excited to go because I was going to see my grandma and grandpa, cousin’s aunts and uncles and many more that I haven’t seen in years My first trip out of the united states was when I was 12 years old after finishing my 6th grade year, my parents and my 2 older sisters Rebecca and Zipporah went to Haiti for vacation. It was an 8-hour flight, and we finally arrived, when we arrived we were greeted by a band playing traditional Haitian music, then we finally meet our aunt who picked us up, and we went to our parent’s old house, in the heart of the city Port-au-Prince.…

Personal Statement Growing up in my native country, Haiti, I always had an increasingly sense of helping others. After my High School I enrolled at the State University of Haiti where I earned a double major in Communication and Economics Sciences. My first job was in the field of Communication. The Non Profit Organization I used to work for had a specific mission to shoot documentaries about the physical and educational needs of some schools in the country and send them to some prestigious international philanthropic organizations to collect funds.…

My life was changed forever when I decided to go with a group from my church on a mission trip to host a bible school in Croix des Bouquets, Haiti. I had been warned prior to going that it would change my life in a drastic way, but no one could have prepared me for the amount of brokenness and heartbreak I would witness. Flying into Port au Prince, even from the air I could see that the homes were dilapidated, and the ones that weren’t, were pretty close to falling apart. I could see trash and pollution in the ocean and piled up on the land, and debris still left over from the earthquake that happened in 2010. Landing in the airport was nerve-wracking.…

Andrew Just last year, Dylan and I traveled to Haiti on a missions trip. As you may know, it's one of the poorest countries in the world. When we were beginning our descent on the airplane, I thought about how little roads and how poor the housing was. We drove through chaotic roads and rubble filled alleys, until we reached the orphanage. New Life Children’s Home is a safe haven for kids who lived in the mountains a couple miles north.…

Growing up in Jamaica was not what some may think as ideal, it has been described as a Third World Country, but to me, it was just home. Third world indeed, poor, violent at times; a contradiction, with its sandy beaches, clear blue skies, delectable food, feel good music, and some of the hardest working people one can ever have the pleasure of meeting, who refused to stay where life may have placed them, but strived to climb above those circumstances and attempt to carve out a life for themselves and their children. Let me introduce you to the Jamaica that I grew up in and remembered; I remember the endless summer holidays growing up off the Sligoville Road, in a small district called Mt. Moreland, where the playground…
