I first remembered my life in Brazil and the simplistic life I had there. I was born in a small town named Caete in the countryside of the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Being from a small, rural area definitely influenced me as an individual. I learned to be humble, well mannered, and caring towards others. After a few years living in Minas Gerais my dad decided to move to a coastal city in Brazil called Vitoria. My parents always strived to provide me with the best education they could possibly pay for. I pursued my passion for STEM and History subjects by taking higher level courses. I became involved with the Portuguese speaking community in my school and founded the Portuguese Club for those students who shared the same love I have for Brazilian/Portuguese culture. I also advocated for different causes such as environmental preservation, end of animal cruelty, the Black Lives Matter movement, and the legalization of Marijuana for medical purposes. In addition, during the summer before my junior year, I participated in a student exchange program in which I lived and studied abroad in Vienna, Austria, for two months.
