Personal Narrative: My Life Having Injuries

My life having injuries is difficult. Most of the time, I cannot play because of it. People don’t always think you can play through an injury but sometimes you have to do what you got to do. Injuries have an impact on people life. After an injury, they be scared to start back playing something because they think that if they start back playing on it, they will mess it up worse. So during football season, I was playing in a game and I played for two quarters. After halftime, my foot was swollen up and I sat out for the rest of the game. I didn’t know what was wrong and I didn’t know how it got swollen. The next game was a big game and the coaches did not want me to be injured and not play. So that Saturday, after Friday night I went to the trainer and we looked at it. When she touched it, it was sore and it started hurting bad. I …show more content…
I put treatment on it before school and after school before we got ready for the game. When we was getting ready, I put everything I said I was gone put on it. We did all of our things we do before the game and then headed to the stadium. We went out and started warming up. My foot was hurting for a minute then I started stretching my foot. It felt better after that. We was playing burke county for the region game. I couldn’t let down. When we started the game, it was like it was healed. During the whole game I didn’t feel it anymore. Coaches kept asking me am I alright? I was great if I didn’t stand in one place.
All the work and the effort I did to make my foot better finally made me a better player. Randy Pausch really inspired me with the quote he made. His quote “An injured lion still wants to roar”, made me think about my life and injuries I have played through. My life story basically says that. You got to have the heart of a lion to be like a lion. You have to attack like a lion to be like one. No matter how hard times get, you have to try to push it to the limit and don’t say you can’t do

The Chosen, the novel by Chaim Potok follows the lives of two Jewish boys, Danny Malter and Reuven Saunders, set in Brooklyn, New York, during the time of World War II. A common paradoxical theme found in this novel is that through one’s loss there is also one’s gain. A quote from Reuven’s father, David Malter states this paradox perfectly; “No one knows he is fortunate until he becomes unfortunate” (Potok 87). To me this means you don’t realize what you have until it is gone or taken away from you. There are many examples of this found in the novel and also some examples of this I can relate to my own life.…

Breaking my ankle was a great experience for me. It happened at an all-star softball tournament, during the game before the championship game. On the field we were working together with the single purpose of winning in mind, but off the field was a different story. Softball has 9 possible position to play and with 10 girls we felt comfortable starting, it led to tension thick enough to cut in the dugout. Hostility was oozing off two of my teammates who were fighting for the same starting spot and, as a leader, it as my responsibility to keep the unity of the team.…

But I also knew I could potentially ruin my sports career if I made the wrong choice. I loved football and did not want to sit out, but I knew that one wrong cut on the field could end my sports career. That itself was enough for me to decided that it was best for me to heal up and try and come back later in the season. This choice to sit out a game and let the healing process begin, would turn out to be one of the smartest choices I have ever made. I say this because after a week in a boot and two weeks of taking it easy, I was cleared to play football again.…
