Personal Narrative: My Life As A Veterinarian

My Life as a Veterinarian If I were a veterinarian, I would have multiple tasks to perform daily. I would do the monthly check-up on pets, give vaccinations, neuter or spay, or perform surgery on a regular basis. Unfortunately, I would also have to put animals down but, it is a good thing to do if an animal is in pain and you don’t want it to suffer anymore. But I wouldn’t necessarily do it by myself. In my work environment, I would mainly work by myself. Every now and then, I would work with another person to perform certain tasks, such as; performing and operation or putting an animal down. I, or I and a colleague would not work in a specific office any day unless we ran to front desk. One of the skills would be being able to perform tasks quickly with little or no instructions based on the patient’s condition. I must also be able to follow a cause and effect relationship in my head in order to know what is the best thing to do for my patient, which I am able to do. Tying in with the last attribute, I must be able to visualize the reaction the patient may have ahead of time. One last skill I must have is to be able to be extremely observant and detect subtle changes in the patient and subtle changes that may affect the outcome of a treatment for the patient. I believe that I have a majority of these skill and aptitudes, but they have not necessarily developed much yet, so I must prepare for these tasks. The preparation I need before I become a veterinarian is, one, of course strengthening my skills and aptitudes. I can do that by volunteering at animal shelters, veterinarian’s offices, and other places that have to do with caring for animals. I will also need to do some further research on treatments and diseases aside from schooling. Eventually, I will be ready to look for a
