My compassionate interactions, or concern for others misfortunes and suffering, comes from a place of understanding. As a young girl I had an idealized life where I went to private schools and had dreams of being a veterinarian. This will not always be the case though. As I have grown older my life became more realistic. I changed houses almost yearly, never really having a home. Although it is possible activism is just simply in my blood as my mom and grandma both have participated in environmentally friendly practices and rallies. Since my 9th grade year my family and I have struggled financially but I feel as though this has helped more than hindered. Having the experience of being financially comfortable and then transitioning into being utterly underprivileged has given me a unique understanding of the world. People can come to me with stories of their struggles and I can react empathetically and help them through it. Having seen the worst and best in people gives me wisdom beyond the years of my peers. Knowing there is always a light at the end of the tunnel gives me the motivation I need to push myself and others to greatness.
