Waking up in a small hut with your mayan family is rough, but compared to this month it was the easiest thing in the world. It’s boring in my hut, because there is nothing for a mayan teenager to do after his teachings. So I recently started reading my grand fathers journal entries. There were a few mistakes, but I think he did alright. He had a interesting story about his mayan life as a teenager. After a few minutes more of reading I went downstairs and I saw tortillas, Tamales, and hot atole. I asked my parents “why are we having Tamales and Tortillas.” They replied by saying “we feel today is going to be special.”After breakfast my father and I went to the fields to start farming. His father taught him how to farm really good we always had surplus crops. After an hour or so of farming we saw a man riding a weird huge animal wearing yellow. He was carrying a metal object with an opening at the end of it. He was wearing metal all around his body. We couldn’t afford to have anyone new here. Our civilization has been declining over many years do to war among ourselves.

They carried a secret weapon with them. It was a disease called smallpox. With the spanish fighting and the disease killing many of my people we had been depopulated. After many wars the spanish also started wearing our armour instead of their own. After most of my people being depopulated the spanish tried controlling us. They tried pushing their religion on my family. They even forced me into being a slave, but the worst thing they did was rape my mom. The spanish still kept some mayans in power, but never enough power to do anything to the spanish. After another hard day of being pushed around by the spanish I went back to my hut. I ate some vegetables for dinner and went to sleep thinking about my people and if they will ever recover from the spanish
