My hometown is a city of music and creativity, so naturally I have acquired a sixth sense for music and performing. This started at about age 5 when I performed in front of an audience for the very first time. This quite rewarding performance helped me realize that this was something that I wanted to do for the rest of my life. From an extremely young age, I discovered that I had a talent, and that was my voice. All throughout my life, I have cited music and singing as a way to deal with the obstacles that life has put in my way. Eventually I learned to play the piano as well, at age twelve in the seventh grade. That same year, I enrolled myself into the school choir. This decision changed my life because I learned that music is where my heart is. I realized that no matter where life put me, no matter where I lived since I had frequently been moved around to different schools and different states, music was my foundation. I could express myself in the choir room and pour out my emotions through my choral performances and as a soloist. Choir helped me get through my most difficult days and has helped me overcome the struggle with myself. I was also bullied throughout middle school and I cited music as a way to truly be able to express myself and what I was feeling each day. I eventually did not let these students who bullied me affect me because I had found what I believed to be my purpose, and I did not let anyone get me
