“Who is all ready for the basketball game tonight against West Central?” Mr. Prairie asked as everyone was getting lined up for gym last class period of the day. The 8th grade basketball team was playing against West central that night. No big deal right? It is not a conference rival or sectional team, but to me it was a big game because I used to go to West Central from kindergarten to fifth grade. I had to play against all my friends that I used to go to school with. During gym class we were playing basketball and I could not make a play because I was thinking about the basketball game that night. The game was the-game-of-my-life to me and I would never forget it.
After gym class I had to go to Language Arts. I could not pay attention

A dilemma that I faced, and still am facing is simply the decision about what I want to do with my life after my high school career. In my freshman year of high school my goal was simply to get through the year in one piece. I was forced to conform to my new environment and all the strict rules that came along with it. Along with that it was the sudden transition from being the "big dogs" as eighth graders at my middle school to being "fresh-meat" in my first year high school. With so much attention placed on me as a freshman like on the varsity basketball team, where I was constantly forced to prove my worth to the coach and the players, to stepping out of my comfort zone and performing in a mandatory play for the rest of the the school as…

It was the beginning of high school, the start of a new chapter in my life; after coming into the school, the mall looked like the feeding of the five thousand. St. Thomas More has over a thousand students, and every single one was there on that first day, trying to find the way to their new classes just like me. Walking through the halls of St. Thomas More with the unfamiliar smell of the classrooms reminded me of what lies ahead. I thought it was going to be difficult, because I wouldn’t see anyone I know. Fortunately, some of my old friends from St. Pius were in my gym class, so I was glad that I would not be alone in gym class.…

The summer before my senior year, I suddenly realized I had in four years, only collected ten volunteer hours out of the sixty required to earn an honors diploma. The perfect opportunity had been right in front of me for all four years, and I hadn’t even realized; Kenston offers a student athletic training program where students are able to shadow the school athletic trainer and learn the basics of athletic training and first aid. I emailed the athletic trainer who I vaguely knew from having been mildly concussed my previous lacrosse season , and asked if I would be able to join in volunteering during the football…

“Runners on your mark…Set...Poww!” Those were the last sounds I heard during what could have been my last race of my sophomore year in collegiate Track and Field. It was a frisky, yet cool Saturday in April and after a strong performance in the previous indoor and outdoor season (4x100m and 400m), I was determined to continue and uphold my strong form on this day. There is a saying that things do not always turn out the way we hope, but I believe, there is always a positive lesson to be learned from every life event. I love sports.…
