One memory that I described in my poem was my experiences at camp Walden. I have been going to Walden for 6 years. Next year, I will have spent half of my summers in my whole life going to this camp. Walden has had such a significant impact on me in many different ways. For example, camp has introduced me to many new friends. If I didn’t decide to go to camp Walden, I wouldn’t have met friends that live in Florida, New Jersey, and Hong Kong. Another way that Walden has shaped me is the experiences it has provided me with. In the six summers that I have been going to Walden, I have learned so many skills such as how to waterski, sail, and play tetherball. Lastly, t Walden, there are two days of intense camp-wide competition every year called

In my exposure to a plethora of cultures, in my personal experience and academic career, I have had the privilege to understand and further appreciate many lifestyles. Through these experiences, my mission: to serve toward compassion and respect, rather than intolerance and isolation, has remained clear. These past 8 years, Obama has been a champion for LGBTQ+ Americans.…

In January of last year I went on a trip to Colorado on a "college visit" with a friend and my father to University of Colorado Boulder. We left Wednesday night, skipping school both Thursday and Friday. We did go to the college and took a tour of the campus on Thursday which I greatly enjoyed, it is beautiful out there and at elevation there is very little humidity. The true intention of the trip, as important as the college visit was, was to go to Breckenridge Resort and spend the weekend snowboarding. A couple of my dad's friends were also going and we were going to share their timeshare.…

I once went on a hike on the Appalachian Trail with my mother. We set off and it started to rain on the first day, and my mom began to complain. By the end of the day, I wanted to jump off the mountain before I pushed her off it. Suffice to say, we were not well-suited hiking partners, due to our different processes; my mother dealt with her grievances by talking about the cold. On the other hand, I was just as miserable, but I attempted to ignore the dismal weather.…

My father has been in the military for 30 years. His career has taken him and my family, to every corner of the world. The Air Force is a demanding career path to choose; often the spouse is left with the full weight of the chores to be done on the home front. During the course of my upbringing these duties were, in part, delegated to my sisters and I. While we never experienced “a life of almost tropical idleness’ (CITATION) like the children of Jane Smiley, we became effective and efficient members of our house hold. We learned to respect our house and our family.…
