I walked towards her and offered to help her carry the baskets to the shed. The woman gratefully accepted the offer and together we carried the vegetables to the storage room. In the shed, the women enquired about my visit to the village. I explained to her that I used to live in a very small village on Phoenix Mountain, people that came to these mountains were usually forced to attend to re-education camp. When she asked what re-education camp was like I told her that I didn’t know the correct answer to it, because there are lots of different opinions about the camps. People tell different stories about the camps and have different opinions, but I did tell her about some of the things that happened to me such as meeting Luo and Ma who I stole the forbidden books with.
