Personal Narrative: My Journey To Georgia College

Improved Essays
After touring Georgia College, I became excited for the future ahead of me. I can visualize myself draped in a dark robe, standing on a stage to receive my diploma, thinking nostalgically of the memories I hold with GCSU. I think of the clubs I involved myself in such as environmental initiatives and community service clubs. I notice my peers who helped me to succeed, regardless of how overwhelmed I sometimes felt, who encouraged me and reminded me of my strengths. I reflect on the semester I spent abroad to embrace the Spanish culture and language. Then I gaze towards the members of my fraternity and think of all that we had accomplished at Georgia College as brothers.
I look behind me and I see the faculty that helped me every step of the way. The professors who educated me and prepared me for a career in the real world. The people who gave me the confidence to know that I am prepared to begin my career and believe that all things are possible.
I see this as a bittersweet moment. I had the time of my life and the opportunity to learn and involve myself inside and out of the classroom but I have to leave this place I now call home and friends I call family. I imagine walking off stage, feeling a sense of pride. Certainly, I was I was destined to be a part of Georgia College.

My past laid out upon a table. My GPA, my resume, my test scores. An unfamiliar man whom I met for the first time was frowning, turning around in his creaky red chair, while hurriedly trying to contextualize my life with just a few pieces of paper. For 15 minutes, he sat there, unhappy, tapping his foot, analyzing what I’ve “done” with my life. He took a sip of water and suggested that I go to community college.…
