To begin with me and my family were on our way to Florida for what I don not know what, it was a surprise for me and my brother. So when we were on the road in Orlando,Florida our car got a flat tire and for the first time ever my dad left his tools at home. We had to wait for a tow-truck and a taxi and that took for ever. While we were waiting for the car to get fix we talked and me and my brother were trying to guess where we are going. After an hour above being at the car place we finally got to leave. Florida is a land of sun palm trees and sand. Florida being a southern state with sweet tea, Publix, and Disney just a few hours away, had many perks. I had never thought of what it might be like to grow up in a northern area, or just even outside of Florida. Up until my 14th summer I had always assumed everyone lived the same way I did. It had all started when I got accepted to a summer program in Washington D.C to attend a medical forum.…

Moving to Orlando from Miami was a huge culture shock to me. Being from the city where people rarely sleep and restaurants/convenience stores are open 24/7 I had a bit of difficulty understanding why the Walgreens around the corner was closing at 12:00 a.m. As I adjusted to what I thought was a drastic change Orlando decided that it wanted to teach me a bit about nature. My time here has pushed me out of my shell and made me a bit more outdoorsy.…

It was a bright summer morning in Big Cypress, Florida. The green palm trees were swaying and the bright blue rivers were peaceful. The long and large alligators were swimming. You could see them bobbing up and down, so all of the tourists could take quick pictures of them. There was a steady flow of people going in and out of the small, worn down nature center.…

In second grade, my sister was in the national guard so we planned to see her for the graduation in Georgia. Just so we could be early and have more of an experience, we flew out to South Carolina about a week before the graduation, for vacation. To make the trip complete, my whole family came with so the drive to the airport was quite chaotic. When my family and I arrived at Myrtle Beach, we stayed in a hotel by the ocean. I was in awe of how it had been so placid there, for all of the people there were kind hearted and it smelled like ocean water through the entire city.…

Out of the many vacations I have taken, going to Orlando Florida was definitely my favorite. First of all, I got to swim with dolphins at a place called Discovery Cove. Discovery Cove offered many cool things to do, such as swimming with dolphins, which was my favorite part. The dolphin that I swam with was named Kai, and I even got a picture with him. I also got to snorkel with stingrays, but they had their stingers cut off for safety reasons.…

The smell of a salty breeze and the feeling of soft sand brings back a great memory. This is the first trip that I’ve taken to Florida. It is also the the furthest I’ve been out of the state of Indiana and the longest road trip I’ve taken. Visiting Miami, Florida a few years ago was quite an experience, being able to visually perceive sundry locations, including sundry shops showed me different cultures as well as people of different ethnicities. I had never in my life encountered a place like this before, especially a place on the east side of the country. As we ambulated around I visited sundry places and met people who verbalized thoroughly different languages, then I am used to, we then came upon the most important place on the trip, the ocean. As I stood and looked towards what would later be known to me as the Atlantic Ocean. Did I notice that somewhere in the distance was a region of water called the Bermuda Triangle.…

On that Christmas morning in 2011, I was given the best gift; it was an envelope with a plane ticket to visit my aunt down in West Palm Beach, Florida. I was only thirteen years old and this was going to be my first time going on a vacation without my parents. When that day finally came I could not sit still in class waiting for the school day to end so I could start heading to the airport.…
