Then, once we get into the air port we had to take a second plane to Manila it was either that or the bus. When the plane landed I was so relieved that we finally were at our destination. When we met my Aunty Rogelia(Aunty Elia for short) at the airport I was so shocked too see her because she was one of my favorite aunts even though I'd never met her, but I would talk to her on the phone almost every week. Once we got to my Auntie Elia’s house I took a shower and the minute I stepped in the shower i already started crying because i missed my family well mostly my mom I mean I was already home sick WHAT!!. I was even crying on the airplane because my mom wrote me this letter and she told me to read it on the on the plane so I did and i started to get sad because I missed my mom

As the powerful Colorado River churned beneath me, as it has for centuries, and the relentless sun peaked over the top of the North Rim, I could not help but feel astounded. I was in a timeless place: a place disconnected from the society I had left behind miles ago. Down here, in the lowest section of the Grand Canyon, it was just me, my friends, and the heat. Always the heat. We had started our journey, a run from the Grand Canyon’s North Rim to the South Rim, at 4 AM in a futile attempt to avoid the skyrocketing temperature and finish before the sun became the determining factor in the success of our venture.…

I woke up and I only had two hours of sleep, and my flight was leaving in two more hours. My head was pounding, I had a terrible headache and my throat was dry and in need of water, so I drank lots of Gatorade to avoid dehydration. My father picked me up at Renata’s house, and then we went to pick up my luggage and my aunts who were traveling back to the United States with me. Guasave had no airport so we had to go to Los Mochis; it was a thirty minutes drive and all I had in my mind was how much I would miss my family and friends, my mom cooking, my favorite places in Guasave such as Aroma café, the beach, the seafood, and the delicious restaurants.…

One of the first things I remember about going on that trip is looking down at my feet and thinking that I would die if I fell. I was nine and very light-headed at the time. It was the winter of 2009 and one of the first times I had ever gone to Colorado. The drive there took about 6 hours from our house so you can imagine my excitement at finally getting out of the car as an inpatient nine-year-old. We were renting a small two story log cabin with a hot tub on the second- floor balcony from a family that had a winter home somewhere in Florida.…

I used to believe that when I moved to Arizona and started at a new school that every single thing that could go wrong, would go wrong. It had only been two days since school started and I already irritated my teacher. I was never a silent child, I would easily get bored and start to blurt out answers or talk to the person beside me. Mrs. Edgar told me to walk outside and speak with her about the issue. At first I was scared that she would send me to the office.…
