Personal Narrative: My Journey To Barakel

Decent Essays
1. Please tell us why you desire to serve at Barakel this summer. I want to work at camp this summer because I feel like God is calling me to come back to serve another summer. This has caused me to be conflicted over the past couple of months when I have thought about it because, in order to go to medical school, I need to be getting clinical hours. I kept telling others and myself that I would go back home and find a job. I don’t think that is what God has for me this summer, but I need to trust his plan for my future. 4. Describe events or situations (within the last year) that lead you to believe that you are a growing Christian. This application has been one way that I see my faith grow. It is causing me to trust God and follow his plan for me. I don’t know where this decision will lead me in the future but I know that God can use me wherever he wants me. …show more content…
I have also seen myself speak up and going out of my comfort zone at times in conversations with other Christians. It is been hard to get them to think about what they have been doing without condoning them.
I have seen my prayer life has grown this year. I have been more intentional about praying for others by reaching out and asking them for prayer request. I have found it has given me more to prayer for and have been a reminder to pray when I think of them. Through this, it has helped me a better brother in Christ to the people that I have asked and I have seen my walk with God

But I knew and felt it when I didn’t sit down to spend time with God. It’s a discipline that I am training in. I want to have scripture in my heart, and I want to know Jesus more so I can be more like Him. And I want to be more like Him so that others can taste and see that He is good. I saw that spending time in the Word was important more in this year than I ever had before.…

Each experience has helped me grow character and be more compassionate. My faith is a big part of who I am and I use it spread positivity and kindness. For example, when we went to feed the homeless or meet the elderly at a retirement home. It is a great feeling when you have touched a person’s life or bring a smile to their face. One event that really stood out was our church mission trip to Mexico.…

-What is your greatest motivator for applying to work at Laity Lodge Family Camp? I honestly miss being around kids! This past summer I worked at a camp that I had been working at for a year now (2 summers and 1 winter camp). I knew that the upcoming summer (2017) I wanted to focus on getting a medical internship, and probably wouldn 't be able to maintain a job as a camp counselor, so this past summer would have been my last summer as a camp counselor!…

The Impact that has been made City of Praise; my church, my home, and my hospital. City of praise has impacted my life tremendously, and I can honestly say that I've enjoyed every bit of it. Growing up in the church was a normal thing for me since I was basically "born and raised in the pew" but for me to actually start living a truly Christian life was the task at hand for me. Years went by with our apostle Dr. Walter Boston and I always wondered "why?" Why did I have to come to church?…

Hello Alvey, I enjoyed reading your post since it demonstrated your passion towards secular friends. As you had friends who were not Christians, I had non-Christian friends. In high school, I yearned to see an organized presence of my student ministry among the student body. Although I was a significant, by God's grace, ambassador to my school, an organized presence, such as a club or volunteering at school events, would have enhanced my student ministry's voice in the community.…

Every week I run the soundboard at my church during junior high sunday school as well as help lead one of the discipleship groups. Doing this allowed me to get to know many of the middle schoolers and realize just how much I have grown and matured both physically and in my faith in the last four years. I also realized that as their leader I needed to live up to the image of a senior in Highschool I had when I was a seventh grader. This made me want to be a better person when they saw me at church, at a High School game, and even when they were not around. I began spending less time with Netflix and more time with my Bible.…

I really enjoyed his answer about the validity of In-Vitro Fertilization. In class, he said that IVF is something that disengages a male and a female from the sexual act of bring a child into the world, as donor eggs and sperm are joined in a petri dish to create human embryos. This process, besides the fact that the millions of embryos have been destroyed to perfect this process, is not natural. Dr. Moore believes that IVF allows anyone to have children, regardless of their sex, and destroys the tradition of children being brought into the world by two loving parents through sexual intercourse. Childbearing through IVF is not the fruit of the love of a man and a woman; it is something created in a lab for two individuals who desire to have…

Three years ago I traveled with my colleagues to Israel. My stay was two months in Israel where I had an unforgettable experience. I visited many historic and significant places for myself as a Jew. To realize to this trip we had a requirement and it was that we have no choice to go to the army. The highest risky time I have experienced was during that trip in the army; the first time that I was going to defend a Country, I was on Israel border with Syria, and I carried and used a gun.…

This was my life; an insecure student who had almost no friends, and even if he did, they weren’t really the best friends. They were more like acquaintances than friends. My life was not what I wanted it to be. Throughout all of middle school, my life was an empty void with almost no meaning until I decided to fully lean on God and his everyday truths. Near the end of my eighth-grade year, something clicked.…
