At Hampton University, I have been developing the skills I started developing in school over the years. During my time at Hampton, I have grown a lot and even learned the important of truth in leadership. I have really started to understand the importance of truth in leadership, when I joined the Leadership institute. I have learned through leadership institute that it is very important for a leader to be truthful. As George Berkeley says “Truth is the cry of all, but the game of few”. This quote say to me that will truth is all around, however only few people tell the truth. This is important for a leader because the people who follow them need to be able to trust them. As I grow as a leader I hope to become better at determining the truth. While Determining the truth has been a process that has taken my entire life to learn and I am still perfecting. I have finally found that the truth really does set you free, even if it take a life time to get there. I truly see the important of telling the truth. While it is not the easiest thing to do, it is worth it in the end. I know that my skill of being able to determine the trough will help me in my carrier and as a leader. I will alway remember the scripture my mom taught me because the truth has really set me

Do you have what it takes to tell the truth? The two essays "Like the Sun" by R.K. Narayan and " Tell all the truth, but tell it slant" by Emily Dickinson both tell the readers to tell the truth. Although both essays have the same message I believe that Emily Dickinson's poem had a better way of telling the truth. Emily Dickinson tells the reader to tell all the truth but to tell it slant. Anyone who tells the whole truth understands that there are always consequences.…

A vacuum in physics is described as a space completely empty of matter. Much like in physics, it’s completely possible for a void to be completely empty in one’s life. What people do with free space is fill it up with objects or other things of value. No one enjoys empty spaces in their lives and are immediately filled. In Haruki Murakami’s Town of Cats Tengo lives with a vacuum in his life questioning the relationship that he has with his father trying to fill the void he’s been living with not knowing if that’s truly his father or not.…

Generally honesty is a good thing, but as shown in The Crucible by Arthur Miller, sometimes dishonesty can be used for good. When someone is not honest it can not only affect the person lying but also affect the people around them. Protecting the ones that we love comes through just being generally honest. We often get into situations where we tend to be dishonest with our own selves. Bashing dishonesty, and how bad it is, comes up as a fairly “normal” thing in today's world.…

Truth telling is “the foundation of authenticity, self-regard, intimacy, integrity, and joy. We know that closeness requires honesty, that lying erodes trust, and that the cruelest lies are often told in silence” (Lerner, 1993, p.15). Truth telling is more than simply telling the truth. It is a way to build confidence and trust. I recently had the experience where two candidates applied for the same prestigious program.…
