Personal Narrative: My Journal

Improved Essays
The past week I kept a journal, recording how I felt at different times and different places throughout the day. This is the first time that I have written down and paid attention to how my energy level changed during the course of the day. I occasionally would think about how much energy I had or how drained I felt at different times in my life, but I never took the time to write it down and observe, so this was a new experience for me. I started my geography of energy journal on Sunday October 4th and ended on Sunday October 11th. The first day of journaling I had to work at 7:30 A.M. and I woke up around 6:30 A.M. having plenty of energy after a full night of sleep. I work at a golf course and when I arrive to work in the morning I find …show more content…
I was excited to hear from family and friends that I haven’t heard from in a while and for dinner with my girlfriend. I went to work in the morning and my energy level remained high for two reasons I believe, one it was my birthday and two because the work day was fairly calm. By the time I went to dinner with my girlfriend I was starting to lose my energy, I found it difficult to respond to and talk to so many people throughout a single day. Wednesday seemed to be pretty similar to Monday as I have the same schedule, but my last class of the day was canceled and I decided to go out with my friends to celebrate my birthday. I was excited but my energy level was still a little down from the previous day, and by the time I woke up Thursday morning I was completely worn out and I had no energy. I spent my weekend in Nashville for fall break visiting some friends from back home. When I arrived Friday afternoon I had a lot of energy and was excited to see old friends and catch up. My energy level quickly depleted by Saturday and I was feeling tired again. I think this partially had to do with the busy week and not being able to rest and reenergize myself before another long weekend. Sunday I visited another friends farm outside of Nashville which was very relaxing and exactly what I needed after a long week and weekend. The scenery was beautiful and being able to sit down and take it all in was a great end to my fall break and a great way to bring my energy level back up to where it needed to be to start the next

It is absolutely AMAZING to think that we are past the halfway mark already. Time has flown, in a good way. That just means we are even closer to accomplishing our educational goals. People do not only wear masks on Halloween. However, it is still worn for the same reason- to conceal an identity. In “We Wear the Mask”, Paul Laurence Dunbar poetically tries to reveal that everyone has a mask to hide a face they do not want to reveal. Whether it be your inner thoughts, lies, or tears, we all want to hide something, even if it means to put on a mask that is not our true selves. I am no exception.…

On the fifth day of November I had more energy than what should fit inside of a person all at once. It was like every day of the past year that I spent sluggish and wishing I was dead, was just all getting stored somewhere and saving up for this day where it finally all came out. First thing in the morning my class had gym, we were playing volleyball, and I actually actively participated for once. I enjoyed myself, and there was this energy all around me, better than anything I’d felt in a long time. After class, my teacher pulled me aside and asked if I was doing better.…

Day 6, Learn a new habit: good thinking or the problem-solving technique Good thinking is more or less positive thinking, and those who choose this path (good thinking with all circumstances), are able to solve problems faster than the ones who let themselves be overtaken by grief, sadness or anger. This is not just something that is said for the fun of it. In fact, in 1890 William James an American Philosopher and Psychologist had already figured out that our thoughts could change the structure and function of our brains. This theory implies that our brain can adapt endlessly because, well, it’s a dynamic organ. This theory has been very popular these last few years, and psychologists (or should we say people in the scientific world…
