Personal Narrative: My Job

Improved Essays
In high school there were a lot of people that had jobs. There was a limited amount that had a job freshman year. I was lucky to have known a kid at Kroger that was in my class; I wasn't looking for a job at the time but he was telling me how they were hiring and all i had to do was apply. I applied that day and heard back two days later. i started working and i loved the job. The people were nice there and it was not too much work. Only problem was, everytime i see someone at school i would be slightly embarrassed. I would get stares and awkward hellos. I felt like i am worth more than what i work, just like Joey in “Working at Wendy’s”. We both had common ground with some differences.

Joey was a man, in college, has a child and wife. He watched his son during day after school then at night works at Wendy's. He has to do this so his wife can finish college and so he can provide for family. He was embarrassed and ashamed that he works there because he feels he is better than his job. He is in college working for PHD and very intelligent around average fast food

Even though i liked some things about my job Joey and i had many of the same dislikes. I was a bagger, even tho thats the appropriate job for my age, i had coworkers that were not on the same brain wave as me. Just like Joey having that coworkers like Dave, who slept in his car. I had guys that were 40 living with parents and ex cons that were just weird. i Also felt small when i see people from school. They really didn't care but sometimes they would give me funny looks and wonder why i'm working here. Joey would see kids from his group in boys scouts and businessmen and feel the way they would look at him and feel small. Also we both disliked the customers at time. Just like him i experienced rude customers. People yelling because things are moving slow or because for something i messed up on. I used to want to say something back just like Joey but i kept my

Clarence, I agree with you completely that older generations follow the motto “a hard day’s work for an honest day’s pay”. I work with a few older employees and they work 5x harder than some of the younger employees I work with. I also received a 35 on my EI test which I was not surprised of either. I have a very high work ethic and have very little time for play in my job. I do need to learn to put myself in others shoes; sometimes this is very hard for me to do.…

I have always been interested in learning and using new ideas. Throughout my life, I have invariably drawn from my life experiences, newly learned ideas and my continuing education to help problem-solve sensibly and realistically allowing me to move forward or help others reach their goals. Although I have no formal teaching experience, in my past work and involvement in organized sports, I have repeatedly used the Progressive philosophy. When dealing with 13 & 14 year olds many situations arise such as bullying, personality clashes or simply not understanding a drill or play. I deal with these situations by asking questions to stimulate a discussion, allowing them to draw on past experiences; positive or negative, consequently allowing them to come up with a solution or grasp the knowledge they are seeking.…

As I went to my first day of school in a new city I was nervous, I didn't know if I was going to make any new friends, if I was going to fit in. The first day began and I immediately met Randy and Byanca, little did I know at the time that they would be my friends for all of my school career. Time went by and so did the grade levels, I would always struggle with one subject and thrive in another. During my elementary and middle school years I would struggle in language arts and history, but I would thrive in mathematics mainly because I love numbers.…

Considering the busy schedule, last minute priorities, family, and civilian education, I really don’t have much time in a day to deal with all that and then reflect on how everything is going. Class and my students take priory of my schedule and during the duty day, everything else I prioritize by suspense date and gravity of the issue. I do have some great coworkers that I discuss my problems and frustrations with, which is a great outlet and it does allow me to reset and not lose my mind. Generally, I take Saturday’s a down day to where I just hand out with my family at home or we go out to visit places in the surrounding area.…

Introduction People always have something to say about politicians and how ordinary individuals from the streets can do the politicians jobs better than they can. I had the keen opportunity to test that theory and was able to step into the shoes of a mock politician through a political simulation. I was put into a tough situation where I had to make choices that caused me to not be able to please everyone. Today I will describe my duties and decision making process through the simulation of or against the legalization of marijuana considering what cards I was dealt; electoral considerations, trustee or delate, personal experience, public opinion, interest group and stakeholders, and party pressure. All of these factors helped me determine my decision on what to vote for.…

To me getting a job simply represented getting money in return for the time spent somewhere other than home laying in bed. My first job started like a fairytale, simple but as in the fairy tail there 's always struggles that come within to learn from what you’re doing, and what I realized was that i had bigger and brighter goals I wanted to accomplish and give my parents and friends a set example that demonstrates struggles in life especially financially can be overcome by simply standing up to them and taking that challenge that most of human beings relate to it as an instinct to cringe away just because they aren’t accustomed to work for their own responsibilities. Then everything began to get complicated day by…

The University at Albany may not be recognized nationally, however I received a top-notch education and gained the knowledge that has led to my professional and personal success.…
