Can you believe a kid, diagnosed with ADD, who struggled in school, who lacked self-confidence, and who didn’t feel as smart as the other kids, could be awarded a college football scholarship and be pursuing a Business Administration and Management degree? I am that kid.

In my mind, she has relented – in reality, I will be sent home with a hastily written request for a parent-teacher conference. We all know the drill by now.…

As part of a team, I have supported this gentleman to shower and dress in the morning and evenings making sure that he takes his medication. Also I support him at teatime to prepare meals, with much emphasis on a healthy diet, which helps his health conditions. Moreover, I work closely with the dietician and the learning disability nurse; this enables me to give a coordinated support which is guided by his care…

For some reason, adults love to ask kids this question: “what do you want to do when you grow up?” For years I was scared and confused. I couldn’t bear the thought of repeating the same actions day after day until the casket. This anxiety alone made me lose track of time, but I was confident in one thing. I loved to read, and escape into the mind of a character for a couple of hours to solve their problems with my own reasoning, question their thought processes, and evaluate what I would do to help them.…
