Decent Essays
My involvement in Basketball and Track has really taught me that if I work hard and strive to do my best, the only outcome is becoming better. I have learned that hard work does and can pay off. During summer of my eighth grade year I was on a summer basketball league, I figured this was the only playing time I would get because the following year I would start as a freshmen. I work hard everyday trying to improve my skills and learning new thing that could help benefit my playing. The following year my coach started noticing how hard I have been working at practice and gave me a few compliments regarding, “nice work today” and“looks like you have been working hard and improving.” Hearing these complements boosted my confidence and made me

I Corinthians 9:24 states, “Do you not know that those who run a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you obtain it”. This Bible verse has had significant meaning to me particularly while running track in high school. Track is a sport that requires hard work, determination, speed, focus, and self-discipline.…

People coming from a different planet would think every day things we do in life are weird. What we have adapted to and think are normal look very weird to others who haven’t seen people doing things like this. Such as someone who has never shaved before would think that is very odd to shave your beard. Or someone who has never seen a drive threw would think it’s weird to have people have food handed out the window. As we think other cultures are weird we have to look at the fact that our culture is weird to others People that have never seen basketball would thing it is a bunch of people running around with a ball.…

Like all children all I ever wanted was to be big and do big people things. I engaged in a few family members that I would look up to and try everything they did. I use to pretend to go grocery shopping and being a parent at times. At the age of eight, I had worn the worst pain ever and that was watching my five, year old brother getting hit by a car while trying to cross the street riding a bicycle that had a loose chain. I remember him trying to get up and get to me, but a few adults that had witnessed the accident had told him to lay down.…

Chris Linde stated “My job as an athletic trainer is to prevent injuries as much as possible. I also support with strengthening and conditioning, guidance in nutrition and sleeping, and I also make sure the playing area is safe”. When he was young, he always adored being around the athletic trainer. Subsequently being pushed to his limits and fighting through the pain, there was always someone to care for his aches, and pains. She gave him opinions on what to do when he was alone to prevent fatigue, and serious injuries that would prevent him from playing to his fullest potential or limit him from achieving his goals.…

They saw my potential and my talent; but, the difference between my new coaches and my previous coach was that they pushed me aside because I was “doing just fine.” This didn’t demotivate me; it just made me work a little less. Ever since my first coach left, I felt as though I had plateaued. Last year, my junior year, I looked up to all of the seniors. They were able to do amazing things.…

I love running track. I know, it isn’t the most glamorous or exciting sport, but there’s nothing like the feeling of crouching at the start line flanked by athletes from all over the country. For me, running track is more than just racing for times or records, it’s a chance to represent my high school. My school has a reputation for being the nerdy and un-athletic school. To be fair, our mathlete team is ferocious.…

As a third generation Lakers fan, loving basketball is in my blood. When I was little, Dad used to explain basketball to me when we watched NBA games together. As I grew older and my knowledge of the sport expanded, Dad and I would discuss trades, scrimmage in our backyard, and debate who would win the championship that year. My passion for basketball intertwined with my enthusiasm for academics when I took a debate class in seventh grade. My first topic, I decided, was to debate why Byron Scott was the best replacement for legendary Lakers’ head-coach Phil Jackson after Jackson retired.…

I had already trained for 8 months before I was approached with a dilemma. I was going to have to choose between going to a track meet, and participating in my stake’s trek event. After much thought I decided that I would risk my spot on the team to attend the trek. It wasn’t until the roster for the following week’s meet was released that I learned that my coach had me replaced for the rest of the season.…

From as far back as I can remember, one aspect in my life that has been nothing short of magnificent is the sport of basketball. Now, in my senior year at Cedar Park High School, I am playing on the varsity team. This will be my second year competing at the varsity level for basketball, but gaining the ability to be a decent competitor at this level did not come with ease. My current success required endless amounts of hard work, determination, and the everlasting desire to become successful. Starting much earlier than most kids, I began playing basketball at the age of just four years old.…

Pick one and explain in detail your plans for integrating this model in your teaching. Specifically, why you are going to include it, how you will overcome any perceived/potential barriers (including 3 specific detailed hypothetical examples), and 5 specific teaching/curricular items you will make sure you address/ include when you teach this unit. (10 pts) I have chosen to use the sport education model not only because I feel like it incorporates essential parts of a students development such as being a team player, organization as well as skill proficiency, but…

I have been playing basketball most of my life for about 8 years. It all started when I had moved into these apartments called “Oak Manor” I knew that once I go outside I’d have to make new friends, but in this case my friend Dishanique that I knew since elementary school comes up to me with a couple of her friends she introduced me to.
