Personal Narrative: My Interview With Thomas Lee

Decent Essays
I interviewed Thomas Lee on October 16, 2015 at Caffe Strada. The interview began with Thomas asking me how Meet the Firms week was going. I explained that it was tiring getting up early, but I was slowly getting used to it. I expressed my happiness that there are only three days of the event left. Thomas also asked me how the next week looked for me. I informed him that I have two midterms next week, so I am slightly stressed, but I should be able to make enough time to study for them. From there, I asked Thomas about his most memorable experience at Berkeley. He informed me that his most memorable experience was when he participated in a protest at Berkeley. He said it was thrilling to be in the middle of something so powerful, and it really

Truth be told, I was only vaguely aware of the Noble Foundation before Jim Johnson, a Noble consultant, was seated next to me at an Oklahoma Crop Improvement Association banquet. While having small talk about summer plans, Jim got out his phone and walked me through the website to find the application. Little did I know that my summer plans would be drastically changed when I took his advice and applied for the Lloyd Noble Summer Scholar program. Being an agribusiness major from Oklahoma State University with only an agricultural regulations background, my overall exposure to the agricultural world has been through legislation, inspection, and guidelines. Needless to say, when I found out I was chosen as an intern I was excited.…

Thus, I began to prepare my meet with him by devising some questions to ask. When I imagined how the interview would go, I thought he would agree to meet me at during his office hours on Friday. I expected the interview to last around 20 to 30 minutes. I figured that some of the answers I would get would be predictable, such as what major he studied in college.…

We had just come from my granddaughter’s basketball game and we had decided to go to the Bob Evans in Marysville. That particular Bob Evans does not have a good reputation with me but since my dear grandchildren wanted to eat there I simply replied, “Why not.”. When we got inside a very cheery room greeted us. There was a beautiful chandelier covering twenty or so tables with green tablecloths and the usual condiments. “It looks good enough.”…

Even though I do not remember many things from my childhood, I remember the moment when I met Melvin Miller very clearly. I was only five, and when I walked up to him for the first time I had no clue he would change my life forever. My first moment with Melvin was watching him lay tile. I watched as he very eloquently placed each piece of porcelain and grout on the floor in a way that I had never seen before. I was immediately captivated.…

A Hero's Journey The last month of summer before my junior year started was occupied with pondering and wondering what I wanted to accomplish during the upcoming school year. For the purposes of this paper, I will refer to the man that I interviewed as Pat. Pat grew up in a big family; three brothers and two sisters. Pat identified that the only concern from his family history is that his dad had coronary artery disease. His mom would make “heart healthy” meals each night, and they would rarely eat out. All his siblings, including him, were involved in sports.…

Piles of homework, memorized scripts, complicated blocking, sweaty costumes, quick meals, and exhaustion beyond comprehension are all part of my life. A typical day is 7 hours of school, 4 hours of rehearsal, and 3 hours of homework which all equates to long and exhausting 14 hour days. Time management is skill that was forced upon me to keep me swimming through high school. I have spent more hours inside my school’s auditorium than I have in some of the classroom. Thankfully, my classes have all been equipped with the necessary materials for me to excel.…

Walking along the main street that lead straight to where the Sons of Liberty, and my Pa, were gathering before going to the harbor. The location was unknown to anyone outside of the Sons of Liberty, but Pa had spoken to a fellow Son of Liberty and I just happened to hear every word, including the location of the meeting. It wasn’t until I spotted a redcoat when I realized that the redcoats would for sure get me in trouble me if they spotted me past the 10:00 pm curfew.…

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened,” (Holy Bible, Mathew 7:7-8). I have heard this Bible verse from Matthew many times, and although it’s message left little room for perception, I found myself mirroring Jesus’ Disciple, Thomas, who had to ‘see to believe.’ Sure, I prayed regularly. Sometimes those prayers were answered, and other times they were clearly neglected.…
