Through many tears and scores of late nights in the office, I learned valuable lessons in time management, page design, the importance of fonts, and editing work. In the course of eight months, I managed to upgrade the two page newsletter, Flyers Focus, to a four page spread. The Flyers Focus now incorporates sections of, sports and fitness, a campus club corner, an editorial piece regarding budgeting, and a spot for freelance editors. Furthermore, my adviser encouraged my creativity with dozens of assignments regarding publicity in the form of posters and other types of media. At the core of my duties, acting as Public Information Office meant being an informant of campus activities and public awareness. For personal reasons, my favorite assignment for publicity was No Shave November. Instead of having only a contest glorifying beards, I helped develop a fundraiser for the Prostate Cancer Foundation. I made 150+ laminated paper mustaches scripted with “Grow a Mustache, Fight Prostate Cancer”, and handouts regarding preemptive measures, symptoms, and facts about the foundation. Though we did raise money, my true goal was to bring awareness to my fellow students, with the hope that they would share the information with their friends and loved
