The person I choose to interview was Taylor Kenneth Hammond from West Jordan, Utah. He has moved a total of 3 times in his lifetime, thus far, to finally end up in Lubbock, Texas. Having just turned 26 on the 5th of October he decided to partake in the interview to assist with his interpretations of diversity in his surroundings and current circumstances.
During our discussion, he brought up many course related material such as: stereotypes, diversity consciousness, cultural competence. He also spoke about how discrimination and drug use has transformed his perception of his personality versus his known family members. Though once he cheated on her his life saw his share of ups and downs in social and economic areas. He had gone homeless as a result; due to Taylor was living with his girlfriend and her dad. Also, his friends the “Taylor Gang” compromised of two other teenagers, Kevin and Dee. The name supposedly came from a Wiz Khalifa song. This group of friends came when Taylor would go to school with his then girlfriend to Lake Washington Technical College—LWTC. At which since he wasn’t attending the school at the time he just merely hung out in the “Quad” and played hacky …show more content…
Except for this time the living conditions were worse. Still wanting to pursue his education he joined an accelerated study program that was designed to assist students towards graduating from high school while obtaining some college credits in an attempt to counter dropout rates.
Although the company and groups of friends that he acquired before were nowhere to be found. He divulged himself into his studies to meet the deadline for graduation. The program offered a practice SAT, better known as the PSAT; in which he passed in the range of 1000-1100. He also stated that upon graduation he had just finished all of his remaining assignments and tests just hours before the time for the ceremony to start.
He overcame the prejudice and social discrimination to graduate from high school beyond all odds. He now has a fiancé and family of 2 daughters to look after and wants To get to a point where he can support his family until they don’t need him anymore. Also, to live comfortably so he doesn’t have to worry about things. As far as being remembered, he would like to be known for helping people and leaving a leading legacy behind for his two daughters, Chloe and Journie. That they would follow his act of kindness, friendliness, and love of music into the
