Personal Narrative: My Interview With Target

For this assignment I chose my mock interview to be with Target. Target is a company that I could very well see myself working for in the future, whether that be later on in my career or during an internship. My first contact with them was at the career fair where I learned that they value leadership development for their employees and improve upon their strengths. I appreciate their business model and their stores, so I thought it would be beneficial to interview with them. My interviewer was Kaitlyn and she is the store manager of the Target here in Lawrence. Overall, I thought the interview went well because I was able to answer all of the parts to every question and keep her engaged. When asked to go through my resume, I was able to point out some of the leadership roles and expectations in my current and former jobs, explain the importance of the Supply Chain Management Club to my academic success, and explain that LeaderShape helped me become a more conscious leader and find my strengths. I think I did that the best when she asked me about a time when I was able to mentor someone or help someone who I worked with. I told her how a girl who was younger than me started working at Pepperjax and I helped her learn the ropes of working the front line because I remembered how hard it was when I first started and that it led to better communication between us coworkers when it got busy.
