I am known for the "American System" and known as the "Great Compromiser," however I have accomplished and been through so much more than that. Born in 1777 in Hanover County, Virginia, I was exposed to American history since I was young. In 1797, I moved to Kentucky along with many others wanting to pursue careers in law and politics. My political career began in 1803 when I was elected to the Kentucky General Assembly then appointed to the U.S. Senate in 1806. I was Secretary of State under John Quincy Adams.…

Ronald is not at all young at the age of 80 when he first met Chris. After being introduced to each other they form a very strong bond, Ron even offered to adopt Chris wanting someone to carry on his name. However the most important exchange between these two is what Chris had said to Ron regarding what he should do with his life "Ron, you must lose your inclination for monotonous security and adopt a helter-skelter style of life . . . Move around, be nomadic, make each day a new horizon. " Ron Took this deeply to heart and began a “nomadic lifestyle” leaving behind his comfortable life and traveling around the country.…

Everyone can say that they always imagined or wanted to look up to someone whether if the person was famous or related to them. Throughout my teenage day I’ve always wanted someone to mentor me and show me things in life that I can one day use in the future years to come. I didn’t want a mentor that was a few years older I always wanted someone that was almost twice my age, maybe even older than me. My mentor that I will be talking about name is James. James and I met at my job throughout my time working there I have worked with many managers.…

There was a point in my life not so long ago when I struggled to separate an actor from the role he played. In fact, I can remember intimating to my mother that I didn't like the character "Will" in Cedar Cove, and I wasn't sure if I liked the actor who played him either. In fact, when I found out that Will figured into the plot more principally in season three, I was a bit disgruntled at first. However, the reviewer within me compelled me to watch season three with an open mind. And I will admit once I made the decision that Cameron Bancroft was merely a masterful actor portraying the role, I realized what an adept actor he is.…

I interviewed Jerry, Faith Green, Paul, Ms.Darshan, and Mr. Hanke. They were all very helpful because Faith and Jerry were IPoly students and I felt that I could really relate to them because I still haven't decided what I'm going to be. Ms. Darshan explained to us that we need to be responsible for our selves and that some textbook prices vary because they all cost a lot. Paul gave us advice in if we weren't sure what we are going to do we should find a common class that the careers I want to pursue have in common. Mr. Hanke told us that we need to stay focused in school because some people who try different things and don't get into it change who they want to be very quickly.…

My experiences over the last six years living in NYC have shaped me into the approachable and compassionate person I am today. I have been immersed in a melting pot with many different culturally and economically diverse populations. These unique experiences have broadened my horizons and allowed me to gain valuable communication skills and the ability to connect with people from all walks of life. I searched out opportunities to give back and help the people in my community both in volunteering in hospitals, educating high school students, and interning in private practices. I even traveled with the organization Medlife, setting up a medical clinic to provide basic medical care and education to people in the poor and underserved communities surrounding Lima, Peru.…

As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…

When I began Energy Express, I thought my role would be improving children's reading skills and helping them cultivate a passion for reading. However, throughout my summer of service I learned that the role of an Energy Express mentor is much greater. To mentor a child is to shape their personality and future, it is to help them grow to love learning and also to love themselves, it is to offer them hope and love since many children in this area struggle within untraditional family structures, and it is to teach them their potential is endless. Therefore, my three goals would be: cultivate a love for readnig through hands-on activities, provide a support, fun, and active enviroment that welcomes and comforts all children, and to build lasting, stable friendships among the children I mentor.…

Like most people, throughout my life, I have always wondered what people think of me. People’s facial expressions, actions towards me, and more, may allow me to gain someone’s perspective of myself, but directly interviewing people gave me a much clearer sense of what people think of me. Through studying the various understandings of the Church, it is interesting to realize the different perspectives people have on me by interviewing a teacher, two friends, and my brother. Interviewing a teacher may appear to be very nerve wracking, but when interviewing Mr. Robertson, my summer chemistry teacher, I was very comfortable. I met Mr. Robertson this past summer, and I enjoyed chemistry so much more than I anticipated.…

It can be said that, when we ask others intimate questions about ourselves, we gain a perspective we have not previously explored. This is an interesting concept, especially when we decide to interview those people with whom we are close. First, I interviewed my long-term boyfriend Jeremy Salter. He gave several answers that shocked me; I disagreed with some, reluctantly accepted others, and yet learned the most with his answers. Next, I interviewed my coworker and closest friend, albeit of only a short period of time, Ashlee Jenkins.…
