Personal Narrative: My Interview With My Leadership

Good leaders are instruments to the success of any task at hand. People in top leadership positions are needed to execute different parts of the ongoing projects. The variation in group situations often determine how a leader acts, how responsible a leader is, and the leadership style to be used. Without leaders of the proper kind, Christ-like, enthusiastic, passionate and dedicated with their work then the group he/she leads may suffer greatly. I happened to meet Wyatt the owner of Spectrum Farms, a sales and marketing company. I interviewed Wyatt on how he manages to keep everything on the move and here is part of my dialogue with him.

Wyatt: Some of my employees are currently studying and taking the necessary college courses related to their job duties. We build their schedules according to their availability because many classes are during working hours. Workshops and seminars are also available; We provide them because there is renewed motivation and it rekindles the passion that one had for the job. These seminars and workshops bring people together that have common problems. The people unite and encourage each other about the shared difficulties they encounter and come up with informed decision on how to handle their daily issues.
Me: Do you allow paid time off or provide tuition for these opportunities?
Wyatt: Some of the college course fees are included. I do not pay all of the study cost but they are incentives we provide that cover some part of the cost. We do share the burden with my employees. I usually support any employee who wants to pursue college courses because it is a benefit to the company when we have skilled employees. Though in some cases we usually pay all the training costs as reward for exemplary performance. Seminars and Workshops are usually provided and the necessary arrangements for our employees travel costs, accommodations, and all the employees need is provided absolutely free. We use this as

As a leader I am open to dialogue and this results into employees working on the principle of participation rather just following orders. This also makes my employees feel that they are wanted and they are part of my team. Transparency and accountability is what we go by. I promote a fair increment in wages through collective bargaining and ensure that the welfare of employees is taken care of. Medical coverage is a privilege but I have made it a right to my employees. We also provide housing where employees reside and the cost is regulated to make sure it is affordable. This ensures that we work in unison. We have reward sessions at the end of every financial year, which is something we all look forward to each year. We also participate in community charity work each year. For instance, together we organize a Santa Workshop every Christmas Season. We take in over 1500 needy families and provide hot meals and gifts to the children on Christmas Day. This is a yearlong project that gets the entire community involved. People from within the community come together and donate according to the family’s

The director I interviewed explained this is still one of the great ways our company is able to provide professional development opportunities. As long as it does not affect our time during regular work hours, everyone is allowed and encouraged to take classes to advance their education. Many employees have earned their Master’s degrees this way and a few have earned their Doctorate including the campus president and Dean of academic affairs. Our campus also has around 5 professional development seminars every month that employees can attend during work hours.…
