Interview #1 I spoke with Tanya Mace for a long period of time to decide what I wanted to do I was really planning on doing my associates in nursing but after speaking to Mrs. Mace I have come to the conclusion that I am going to do the LPN (licensed practical nursing) program and decide from there if I get accepted into the ADN in program in august I am going to hold off until I finish the LPN program then maybe do the bridge program for my RN (registered nursing).I chose to speak with Mrs. Mace because she is my academic advisor and she works with students to help them make the best decisions for their career paths.
Interview #2 In my second interview I spoke to several formal and current students to see if what Mrs. Mace had told me was true. After several of the formal students told me that they had tried the R.N program first and found it very hard to go straight into the nursing program and not doing the LPN program first, and not working in the field, they felt like they were always behind the rest of the students who had previous experience. And their grades reflected the lack of knowledge.

Capstone Reflection As I reflect on the past two years of the education that I have participated in, I am excited about the conclusion and completion of my Bachelor of Nursing Science (BSN) degree. I have long anticipated completing my BSN. Twenty plus years ago I was accepted into the University of Washington nursing program, but was positioned as third on the waitlist. Unfortunately, I did not move off the waitlist to start in that BSN program.…

Hi, Rachel. Yes, as stated in my post there was a protocol in place where the nurse was supposed to take a wheelchair to the admissions department to pick up the patient, however, because she was an agency nurse she was unaware of the process. I think if the process that was in place had been followed, this issue might have been avoided.…

My clinical experience so far has been quite interesting, because I learned basic clinical procedures and preventions that I know will benefit me as a nurse in the near future. During lab, we discussed infection control, personal hygiene, and isolation precautions. These procedures impact my personal health and wellness, because I need to ensure that I am using the proper techniques in order to keep me safe. Also, I know that it is important to make sure my patients are not at risk of developing hospital associated infections.…

This week I had the opportunity to work with Paula, who was a breaker nurse. Since she was breaking, I had a chance to work with the men and women side. To be honest, I felt more comfortable being on the women's side. In fact, I was actually not nervous being on the floor that I felt comfortable joining a bracelet activity where I bonded with Mele and John. I thought it was a calming activity where all your worries seem to disappear and all you think about is what color to choose next.…

As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…

My ideal work environment is somewhere I can be a steward of my nursing gift and have the basics of my faith understood; however, I also need to be able to serve people from different beliefs so that my compassion and gentleness is a testimony of God’s unconditional love. Experiences as a patient at Providence and informal interviews have shown me that Providence Hospital is the ideal environment for my nursing career. My compassion, character and experience will be positive and unique contributions to the Providence family.…

I admired the nurse that took care of my aunt up to this day and hold them in high respect. I invested hours in their office whenever I visited my aunt in the moments of her surgery or to pick up her medicines. Few years later, I had been volunteering at a local hospital, this made me fully realize the hard work nurses put in their work line. My overall experience with the nurses that I encountered was positive. In my senior of high school, I took a course on health and human anatomy.…

Earlier this week I contemplated emailing you because of school right now; I am almost lost in nursing school right now. Last semester I had my first Nursing class and it went well I guess, it was mostly book material I could memorize and regurgitate like most school material. This semester however is completely different. I am currently learning how to apply all of this knowledge through skill simulations and critical thinking. This is completely different compared to the previous schooling; so I am having a tough time adjusting.…
