I was being interviewed for a position as a Resident Assistant for this Academic year. Keep in mind, I have never had a job before and was not sure what were the protocols for preparing for an interview. The day before my interview I decided to sign up for a mock interview with the Career Advancement Office. The interview is ran as a real interview to help students prepare for the actual job interview. I was pretty nervous for the mock interview but not as nervous on the day of the RA interview.

My interview was on a Saturday at 3:00 pm. When I woke up that morning all I could think about was what I was going to wear because I did not have any professional heels. What I could remember from my mock interview was that it is expected to wear black low pumps and no see through

I started to freak out because I still had to put on make up and print out another copy of my resume. I thought I didn’t have time, but magically I got done in 15 minutes and had enough time to walk to Savitz and time to mentally prepare for the interview. As I took my time to walk there I began to give myself a pep talk. It was a way to calm my nerves because the closer I got there my heart began to beat …show more content…
After introductions my interview started. They each took turns asking me questions. Some of them were difficult to answer since I had no experience working for an employee so I used all my volunteer experience to answer majority of the questions and to pull examples to help my answers. Nearing the end of the interview Netty asked me some personal questions, my interests, and etc. For some reason I thought those questions were the hardest to answer because I was not sure what was appropriate to say and what wasn’t. I ended up just giving information on where I live, major, college level, and my relationship with my

I'm doing the interview because, as you know, I am the internal evaluator for the project and beginning of September, late September, I said to the group "I thought it might be good for me to do a round of interviews to check in with people to get feedback from everyone who is connected to the project, and some are more connected than others, to hear what people had to say about what's gone well, what concerns they have, are there any issues that the staff need to be thinking about." I'm getting near the end of…

For this assignment, I interviewed Felicia Low, a Program Advisor at the School of Public Health. This interview taught me a lot about myself and my interpersonal communication skills when it comes to communication on a one-on-one basis. Prior to the interview, I was a bit nervous since I did not know Mrs. Low personally and never communicated with her face-to-face. I prepared to conduct the interview in a way that it would feel like a normal conversation and not a regular interview. For example, I would not always say things from the interview questions that I prepared, I would sometimes ask a question on piece of information that she would share.…

Before I applied for this company, I had gone through several interviews with various companies in order to prepare for the one I was going to desire. I totally understand it is not ethically acceptable but, at the same time, I realized how helpful the real job interviews were because I easily got nervous in the interview regardless of what kind of interview. Therefore, it helped me a lot to know how to express myself more effectively.…

Oprah Winfrey once stated, “Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity.” But is luck really a combination of preparation with you being presented an opportunity? It is my belief that a majority of the time the answer is a resounding no. However, there are instances where if you are prepared and the right opportunity does present itself luck can sometimes be perceived as having a role. The most common opportunity that I myself have experienced as well as anyone else is having a job interview and getting offered a job.…
