At Miller one of my task was to do bedside and advocate for my patient needs and wants. We are allowed to go into the patients room and ask them if they need anything from the playroom. Some of these children are not allowed to leave there room because they are either isolated because they are contagiouse or under a strong medication that gets them very drowsy or nausseated. Eventhough, they are not allowed to leave there room we are allowed to either keep them company or gather up some art activities or whatever they like and take it to them. I really love what Miller do for there patient its a great hospital and i am happy that I choose them to do my internship. They not only provide art activites or toys so the children can play but they also have ipad, dvd movies, playstatyons xbox that the patients can play. There also therapist that teach the children to play

I first started my internship at the University of Maryland STC in my senior year of high school as a requirement for my magnet program. The internship was a volunteer position but we performed basic tasks such as stocking each bay with supplies and saline solution, retrieving blood from the blood bank when needed, and providing blankets and socks for incoming patients. I never paid attention to the importance of these tasks until one specific incident.…

Though I have volunteered at two different hospitals over 2 years, only recently have I realized something I didn’t know about healthcare. To me, it seems that though doctors are undoubtedly a centerpiece when it comes to healthcare, it doesn’t look like they are actually part of the “patient care team”. Earlier in my life I had an angelic view of doctors, and I figured that they were the people who would spend the most amount of time bonding with patients. However, in the Riverside hospital I currently work at, what occurs is quite the opposite. Nurses and assistants are really the people that are with and care for the patients at all times, and doctors are rarely present.…

At the time, I thought he was only referring to the sports I was playing. Whether it was gymnastics, softball, basketball, or volleyball, he was always pushing me to be the best I could be. I never dreamed these words would mean so much to me and ensue me to aspire my accomplishments thus far and the accomplishments I strive for in the future.…
