What you did?
I was doing my internship at Douglas County Emergency Operation Center; we were a group of three students who are majoring in Emergency Management. Whitney Shipley supervised and taught us a lot of things during the semester. We had done tabletop exercise with three different agencies; each one of us had to choose to meet with the Police department, Business organization, and Red Cross. I chose the Red Cross and met with them many times. The Red Cross is doing an exercise in the coming June, they need to initiate 2 shelters that can absorb 400 people in 4 hours, prepare the shelter with all needs that might be needed. Also, the Fire Department, Police Department, Social Workers, Sheriff Department, and the Public Health had joined the meeting to discuss the Red Cross’ needs during a tornado event. The meeting was to discuss the issues with the Red Cross, and to remind each department about the role of the Emergency Operation Center during the disaster. All the departments above were informed and told about how the Emergency Operation Center will be activated, and how they engage with the other agencies.

Also we searched for many events to know the locations, dates, and for how long to inform the responsible agencies that need to attend the events.
We were asked to do researches on different natural disasters, also look for the same disaster in different scale. We looked at large, medium, and small events, regarding the fatalities, the organizations and the agencies that got involved, and the damage and cost of each

Introduction My last semester at Middle Georgia State University as an undergraduate student was filled with a wonderful opportunity to intern with the Bibb County Sheriff Department. My internship experienced was supervised under the leadership of Cindy Gresham, the executive assistant of the agency. There were multiple attempts to consolidate the two agencies in efforts to decrease the amount of tax payer dollars allocated to public service and to increase the effectiveness and efficiently of their service performance.…

I have done my fall internship at the same school but during the day. I feel that there is a lot I can do to support the students both academically and emotionally. During the first meeting with the counselor she expressed that being bilingual and bi-cultural will help. I know that there are not many opportunities to talk or have sessions with students, since they don’t have elective classes where I can see them, but I will try my best to be flexible with their schedules. I found out that they have a student government association, so I will try to be involved in their activities,…

Like any other clinical experience, going into the Salvation Army I set goals for what I would achieve during my learning experience to focus my learning and enrich my knowledge base. My first personal goal was to go into the experience with an open mind and allow myself to learn more about this population and the people I would care for. This goal was achieved because I can talk about moments that I experienced that contributed to my growth of knowledge and awareness to this population. This goal was reached by sitting with multiple individuals over their meal and talk to them about their hardships and what they were going through. This allowed me to share my compassionate heart and listen to people who needed someone to talk to and hear about…

My experience in the emergency department at Legacy Salmon Creek during my paramedic education gave me insight to the patients I hope to eventually serve. During this experience, I got the opportunity to help patients suffering from life-threatening illnesses. However, the majority of the patients I worked with did not have emergent conditions. I realized that many patients visited the emergency department because they did not have access to affordable health insurance for preventative care. Emergency visits are expensive and the wait time could be detrimental to patients.…
