Personal Narrative: My Internship At Chic Communication

Improved Essays
I am currently an intern at Chic Communications, a small luxury PR firm located in Annapolis, MD. I travel to my internship on Tuesday and Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., however when there are special events of our clients I will also travel to these events so I can get as much experience as I possibly can during my time at this internship. My duties at my internship include managing all forms of social media for all of the companies clients, assist in writing press releases, assist in media releases and scheduling media interviews, assist in planning and executing special events and photoshoots.

The things I like is the freedom I am given with creativity. I am allowed to create and post whatever I think is best for our client’s social medias, I can create handouts for clients and also create templates that will make them more professional. I also enjoy the work environment in the office. There are often times where we will all just talk, and usually all end up cracking up. It keeps the office a low-stress environment and makes it extremely enjoyable to travel to the office everyday. I also really enjoy leaving the office and visiting clients. These meetings help put a face to the clients and let you get to know them better and help generate new ideas for them. All of the meetings I have attended with clients have made me enjoy internship even more. The owner of Chic Communication, Morgan, has also been wonderful with trying to schedule client meetings on Tuesdays and Thursdays so I can attend. She said that she had always believed experiences was more useful than reading a text book and she wants to give me as much experience as possible. The only “bad” part is that some days I am solely working on scheduling social media posts for clients and these days I find to be boring. But there has only been one day like this and it doesn’t seem like that will happen again. Although I enjoy scheduling social media, I enjoy helping with other tasks more, however social media is a large part of what Chic Communications does and it is nice to be given an important task that reflects directly back to the company. The only thing I wish for is to continue going on as many client meetings as

When I finally had the opportunity to work and assist military veterans, I never expected that I was going to work directly with clients who were diagnosed with a substance and mental health disorder. For my first internship in Graduate School, I interned on Skid Row at the Volunteers of America Los Angeles (VOALA). This internship was very challenging and demanding for me, because I had no idea what to expect. I interned in a Harm Reduction program that assisted homeless veterans with transitioning from temporary housing to permanent housing.…

The bullpen was the largest room in the office with around six to seven computers. I sit down and Trevor gave me passwords and showed me exactly what I would be working on. Even though the office was small I didn 't get to meet many people. I actually only talked to two people who weren 't interns, Trevor and Kyle. Regardless, Trevor explains to me that the project that I will work on the most is for the ESPN award show the ESPYS.…

I have done my fall internship at the same school but during the day. I feel that there is a lot I can do to support the students both academically and emotionally. During the first meeting with the counselor she expressed that being bilingual and bi-cultural will help. I know that there are not many opportunities to talk or have sessions with students, since they don’t have elective classes where I can see them, but I will try my best to be flexible with their schedules. I found out that they have a student government association, so I will try to be involved in their activities,…

Everyone can say that they always imagined or wanted to look up to someone whether if the person was famous or related to them. Throughout my teenage day I’ve always wanted someone to mentor me and show me things in life that I can one day use in the future years to come. I didn’t want a mentor that was a few years older I always wanted someone that was almost twice my age, maybe even older than me. My mentor that I will be talking about name is James. James and I met at my job throughout my time working there I have worked with many managers.…

So staying in the dorms was an interesting opportunity to really test my newfound patience. I also learned many valuable life lessons and received an abundance of helpful advice at SouthWestern Michigan College. Being proactive instead of reactive was one of the best sayings I ever heard in Business 201 – Principles of Management with Stacey Horner. This is one of the best classes I could recommend to anyone, reading “Who Moved My Cheese” is what in fact inspired me. Several other helpful classes I would recommend are; Educational Exploration, Intro to Computer Technology, Intro to Meetings and Events, Professionalism Workshop, Business Law I, Micro and Macro Economics, Human Resource Management, and Two Dimensional Design.…

I remember the day before my first day at Pennoyer. I was sad and happy, scared, and mad all at the same time. I remember crying and yelling at my parents to not make me go to school that next day. The next day I showed up at school and remember walking into Mrs. Michael’s third grade class and seeing all of these new people that I would be friends with for years to come. At this school is where I made new friends, great memories, and where I grew up from a little kid into a young adult.…

law firm internship. An agonizing few days passed as I waited for a reply, and I was ecstatic to learn that I had been chosen for the internship. No words could explain how excited I was but the smile that filled my face said it all. At this internship, I built upon what I learned at Hyde Square Task Force and developed more confidence and determination to succeed in a professional environment. Not only did I take Shakespeare, writing, public speaking, civil rights and art classes, but I also worked in an office, participated in community service events, and visited colleges, which all helped me explore and adapt to different ambiances of the work…

During my internship experience, I learned a lot of things that I thought I knew but are misconstrued on. With that being said, I know everything must be done in decent order or this will cause chaos and lead to confusion. I also learned everything takes patience and is very time- consuming. I became frustrated, so many times and just wanted to give up, but I had to remind myself that hard times are going to come and everything is going to work out. Many times I sat on my bed crying because it seems like everything piled on me at one time.…

On the last day of my first placement, I felt for the first time what it is like to get through to a child with some difficulties paying attention and completing tasks, I saw what it was like to feel the accomplishments of being a teacher. For my first placement I went to Valley View Elementary, and was placed in a first grade class with Ms. Stehle and a fourth grade class with Mrs. Testolin. I loved both classes I was placed in because they were both very welcoming. In my first grade class there was twenty-two students with varying learning styles, the class was very ethnically diverse and included a few higher energy students that may of needed a little extra help. Each class size was ideal because it wasn’t too small, but had a good amount…

I yearned to view the world in a different perspective. I aim far beyond just experiencing the world first hand, seeing it through multiple lenses, and watching how it runs in the background. In fact, what I desire is to see where I must stand to give my maximum contribution to the global industry and multicultural understanding--a purpose I know I must serve. And this was what drove me to fly 8,500 miles from the Pearl of the Orient to the Land of the Free.…
