This prep for college class has gone by really fast. I am very interested in the field of physical therapy. I am very interested and lover sports more than anything, i think my favorite sport is defiantly football i love it more than anything. I discovered that i learn really easy in this class. This class was not a challenge to me probably the hardest part of this whole class is writing these essays which take forever to write and to proof read. My learning style is very simple, if you teach it then i will learn it. I think it is very easy for a teacher to just get in front of the class and teach, if they do not then I really can not learn it. Because if you can't even explain it then how am I supposed to learn it. I think that my personality is the best part about me. I am very outgoing and i can do anything that you want me to. I have a very funny personality i can get along well with anyone and do anything. I will always give you my best even though for you it might be good enough but for me, if i know that i've tried everything to be successful i know that i will be. After high school i plan to go to college somewhere close to home so that i can commute to the campus and not spend a whole bunch of my money on dorms and food. I think that i will be very successful and will be a great asset to any company or …show more content…
Hopefully when i get out i can fulfill my goal of being a physical therapist and helping all kinds of people. The most helpful about this class was seeing how an interview works and what you can do to change your responses to make you sound more sophisticated and what to expect during the interview. I think next year a good add to the class will be learning about taxes and how to manage your money in the future. Also what classes you can take in college and what college would be the best for you based on a questionnaire sheet or

When I was shadowing an osteopathic family medicine physician, Dr. Anthony Lopresti, I came to appreciate how the philosophies of osteopathy coincides with my own. Through many patient encounters, I learned of the combination of prescribed medications and musculoskeletal manipulation that enhances the body’s natural process to heal on its own. I was wavering between pursuing the two philosophies of allopathic or osteopathic that both sought to improve individuals’ lives. My passion in osteopathic medicine was confirmed when I comforted a distressed patient which made me realize how important patient satisfaction was to me. The ideal practice of medicine she spoke of also resonated my own beliefs of practicing medicine: to consider the person…

This class provided me with the opportunity to implement everything that I have learned in other classes by putting it all in a practical sense. I am a hands-on learner, so I was able to easily grasp onto the topics and apply my knowledge. Even though there was not that many topics covered, I learned a great deal of useful information. The pre-assessment health screening will be the most useful information for me as I move towards my future as a physical therapist. In every setting, the information in the risk stratification form will be used in evaluations before starting to work with a patient.…

I shadowed an orthopedic physician assistant and learned about what they do on a daily basis. While there I got to see the role that he plays in a patients care and how him and the surgeon work together as a team. I saw his perform pre and post surgical visits, aspirations and injections, interpret radiology reports, and evaluate and treat injuries. I also had the opportunity to spend about 20 hours in the operating room in which I watched both the surgeon and physician assistant perform a variety of surgeries such as total knee and hip arthroscopy’s, ACL reconstructions, knee scopes, etc.…

The pain began slowly, pricking me with its sharp needles only while doing barre in ballet once a week. I ignored it, believing it to be normal, common discomfort that would soon go away, typical thoughts of a dancer whose entire sport is centered around “good pain”. Six months later, it had escalated to the degree that every step I took felt like an arrow to my knee. Dancing had become impossible, and it was determined that I should be taken to the orthopedist. The bland, brown and beige lobby became extraordinarily familiar as I waited two hours to be examined.…

Walking into the TOC that early morning on July 25, I was nervous and didn’t know what to expect. As I reached forward to introduce myself to Mr. Jeff Keith, the gentleman that gave me this opportunity, an air of relief swept over me. Mr. Keith is a physical therapist assistant at the Huntsville TOC who has been practicing for twenty three years with a business degree to help him in being the assistant manager of the TOC in Huntsville. I was so excited to begin my full day of learning and it all started with my fervent inquiries about his journey as a PTA, including the good and the bad. Mr. Keith was kind enough to allow me into his personal opinions.…

Interviewing someone is something I am definitely going to need for my future career as a physical therapist. This class is going to get me where to the point where I need to be with interviewing a patient and being able to gain respect and trust with my patients. With the two interviews we have done in class, I can see where I have improved as an interviewer and where I need significant improvement on my interviewing skills. Opening the two interviews, I thought I did a much better job at opening the first interview. In that interview, I was able to ask very basic questions about Mikayla’s life.…

In September of 2015, I took a class that I never imagined myself taking; teen leadership. A speech class, taught by my band director and involved a lot of socializing with others, creativity, and on the spot thinking. These things- I was not the greatest at. Unfortunately, reality later dawned on me, and I realized that to become- and be great at being- a physical therapist, I would have to be more social, more approachable by others.…
