I am interested in Social Work because I intend to help children feel welcome and safe in school. I recall my second year in this country, I had just graduated from elementary school. I kept numerous doubts and questions about middle school; I was worried that life would be like elementary school all over again for the next three years. As an immigrant who was experiencing an environment and language, I felt unwelcome in the elementary school. Everyone seemed strange to me. I did not have any friends and I struggled with getting my homework done on time. At that time, I felt such an outsider in the class.
