I first heard of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute my sophomore year, when someone I knew received the Rensselaer Medalist Award. After speaking with them about the award, I knew I wanted to learn more about Rensselaer. Additionally, it was the time I started creating my college list. I began to research different schools and my interest was peaked as I learned more about Rensselaer. During my junior year I was awarded with the Medalist Award. From both the research and the award, I decided that Rensselaer met my standards when it came to academic reputation and student involvement.

I became interested in Rensselaer because of its rigorous academics. As I look into Rensselaer, what stood out was its 5 schools. In a way it makes Rensselaer unique for its interdisciplinary curriculum. For all of my life, building close relationships has been the key to my success. I form relationships successfully in a small, comfortable setting. In school, classrooms are an accessible way for myself to accomplish this with my teacher. For every teacher I was close to, the class I had with them was my top class. One of the main reasons I chose Clarkson College was because I admired it was a private college with a limited student to teacher ratio.…

The corner of Broad and Sansom will always have a special place in my heart. In my travels around the city of Philadelphia, it is one of the few places that can smack me in the face with déjà vu. Whenever I walk by and look up at the windows above I still see the “David Wright shot a 72 on Wednesday” sign (this became a battle cry for me whenever the Phillies played the Mets, regardless of whether or not Wright was in the lineup). That was the prime location I was able to snag on October 31, 2008, bright and early at 8:34 a.m. There was an electricity in the air; the championship drought was finally broken and the streets were flooded with red.…
