Personal Narrative: My Interest In Optometry

My story of my interest in optometry begins when I visited the optometrist for the first time when I was five years old. Since my vision at that time was normal, and none of my family members wore glasses, my parents thought that my vision would remain the same throughout my life and that annual eye exams would not be necessary. Unfortunately, this assumption was incorrect, and my vision did weaken as I grew older. The change in my eyesight was very gradual, so much so that I hardly realized just how much of the world I was unable to see. By the time I was in the seventh grade, I noticed that I could no longer see the whiteboard in school as clearly as I should. After failing a vision screening given by my school, my parents took me back
