Thank you for your presentation regarding the Triage Consulting Group yesterday at USC. Again, I want to reaffirm my interest in the Associate position at the firm. Throughout my college career I have always wanted to take part in an organization where I am able to balance my knowledge of society, my passion for working with people, and interest in healthcare. It’s been rather surprising that an organization like the Triage Consulting Group to come along, and it’s an amazing opportunity to put my professional and personal skills to great use and further develop my interest in all aspects of healthcare. As I mentioned during the career fair, I have a diverse background in public service, community outreach, management and communications.…
The sciences have been central to my life ever since I was a child. My mother is a veterinarian and my father a mechanical engineer. Both of my parents attended Tuskegee University and always pushed for me to consider HBCU’s for my education. STEM careers and education are promoted heavily in Huntsville, my hometown, as major tech companies and government entities such as NASA and Missile Defense are located there. I ventured out my senior year and took courses dealing with social sciences, both in my high school and at a nearby university.…
As a student currently attending my fifth semester at CSULB, I have completed various activities that have helped my development as a Dietetics student and aspiring Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. Some of these activities include being a member of Hermanas Unidas de Long Beach (HaU), CSULB Student Dietetic Association (SDA), & Students for Sustainable Health (SSH), as well as being part of the Coca-Cola Scholars, and lastly being a student intern at the CSULB Center for Latino Community Health. As a member of HaU, SDA, and SSH, I have obtained academic, community, and social skills. Academically, I have learned how to communicate efficiently with my professors, know the resources available for support on campus, be organized in order…
Attending Waterbury Career Academy Waterbury Career Academy High School will help benefit me in my future success because it will help me to pursue my desired career, prepare me for college, and it will inspire me to do other things later in my life. I have had some experience with working with some machines and the safety requirements. My technology education teacher, Ms. Foulds, took a small group of students into the workshop and we used machines and learned specific safety requirements. She has also taught us great tips on computers and skills that I would take with me to college – such as finger placement when typing.…
I am currently seventeen years old and am in my senior year of high school. I have work experience from working at my dad’s printing company, Oregon Blue Print, and for being a referee for the North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District Sideout Volleyball program. Some of my skills, gained through working, are that I am able to work in fast paced environments, able to multi-task, and able to work well with others. During my high school years I have developed other skills such as leadership abilities, communication skills, and dedication. Using the skills I have gained through my years I plan on becoming a high school art teacher.…
The Capstone Experience was extremely rewarding, as I now have a better understanding of the helping profession and how it all ties together. There is the fund raising component, staff meetings, public speaking events, and single mothers to attend to. The helping profession is a career choice that requires a great deal of love for humanity and patience. The course gave me the opportunity to experience how it would be like to work in my career choice. It allowed me to put to practice the skills I have learned throughout the HSA Program.…
When the name “Case Western Reserve University” is mentioned, a myriad of subjects come to mind: research, science, engineering, breakthroughs, and technology, to name a few. In our great university, there seems to be a wider appreciation among students for the sciences than for the humanities -- this does not come as a surprise considering that CWRU is primarily a research university, and faculty and students have been conducting magnificent and ground-breaking scientific research for decades. The science, technology, engineering, and mathematics departments are so nationally recognized and prominently discussed that they often overshadow the humanities departments. However, if I could recommend an elective course to my brilliant science and…
“You’d make a great RA one-day Grant.” Stated my favorite teacher in high school. Because I really did not know the requirements and duties of a resident assistant, I started to look into it and realized that my personality really did fit with this job. In my opinion though, being a resident assistant would not even be seen as a job because I would enjoy it very much. During the end of September, I approached my resident assistant with all of my questions about trying to get this position.…

Getting a head start on your future Would adding career classes in high school benefit students and get them ahead start in life? Many students are contently complaining that they take classes they do not need. What if high schools add classes that would get students a head start in college? If there are a lot of students would the same the career path or if they need a certain class to take for their career then high schools should add class to help them get started.…
The career paths that I am thinking of taking is either probation or police officer in the city of Portage. This semester has given me some type of outlook on what you are going to be dealing with in regard to counseling offenders. The amount of time and focus you need to have with every individual you encounter. Also how hard it is for the rehabilitation of offenders and the need to take baby steps with them. Not being so much pressure on them…
The road to become a social worker has not been easy. I did not expect this degree to fall out of the sky, but I did know about the added work during the internship. I learned early in the program that it takes patience and perseverance to stay in this program. I will reflect on the courses that has opened my eyes to the diversity in this society. The Intro to Social Work course was wonderful at displaying how the social work foundation got started and the people who stumbled upon social work through the act of kindness by looking beyond themselves to help others.…
Furthermore, there was so much more knowledge to consume about other people, the counseling process, and the development of my own professional identity in general. Active listening is a powerful technique that I believe is highly underestimated. Prior to this class I never realized how effective this simple act was. I was…
Reflection Paper This semester I learned about several resources and information about me that has helped me choose my major and that will benefit me in the future. My interest in technology has allowed me to consider taking classes in computer science and MIS. My interest in creating Excel documents has allowed me to organize my school work and spending habits, which allows me to spend more time focusing on other things. These interests are important to me because they help make my life easier.…
A few years ago I got a call from my grandpa. His computer just crashed and called to see if I could salvage the hard drive for him. Contemplating while on the phone if I even knew what a hard drive was, but I agreed none the less. I pulled up and went into his office and looked at his old HP desktop. I unscrewed the side panels and removed them and gendered at the rat 's nest of wires and the strange components.…
