Although I have made improvements in my work, I still have to work on choosing and explaining evidence clearly. I chose this to be something to prioritize, since evidence is the heart of a well-written essay or paragraph, and I want to improve analyzing evidence, since it is a key to writing well. I currently live in a small beach town right outside of Jupiter, Florida known as Hobe Sound. It’s a “drive by town” as I would describe it. There really isn’t anything there would attract or gravitate people to stay there; its better to just look at it out a car window well passing it. It is currently about six hours outside of Tallahassee, Florida. This seems really long, but originally I signed to go to University of Mississippi and later realized that being more than ten hours away from home was to much for me.…

The first time, I enrolled in this class, I felt excited knowing this class would help on my grammar, so I can become a better writer. My first thought that cross my mind was this was going to be easy and it was. My last experienced with writing and English was okay because I mainly get a B or a C, but rarely I would get an A. I always been having trouble with grammars. My high school English teachers taught us about grammars and how to become a better writer. It was similar to what you had taught us in class because we always learned about grammar out of a book and we got tested after we been practice.…

My writing experience: I didn’t start to read until I was in first grade. Every week we would go to library to check-out two books and take a test on the books we read on a computer. Every day in English we read a short story to ourselves then we would play games dealing with the story to make it fun. To be honest I never really did a lot of writing in Elementary , Middle, or High school so I can’t pinpoint when I started writing. In essay writing I learned its always good to express yourself with your own opinion.…

Unless I have a very strict and short deadline, my writing process begins with thinking and reading about the topic or subject matter of my paper. I don’t do a structured free writing or idea mapping session, but rather just read a bit to get familiar with the subject matter and to get my brain thinking about the subject. Once I am ready to begin writing. I start with the thesis statement is on the topic, is formatted correctly, and matches the purpose of the essay.…

Before I turned in memoir number one in college comp, I had confidence in my writing. I attended comp last semester, and developed adequate writing skills for the class. However, as the teacher handed my essay back, I gasped at the red marks all over the page. I acquired a fourteen out of thirty on my first memoir! My confidence level nose-dived, and I experienced a wave of depression.…

The image that best describes my writing style would be the pyramid. To me a pyramid is a structure that represents order and an attention to detail. The picture of the pyramid is structured in levels, which can be viewed as steps to writing an essay or research paper. The top of the pyramid could be viewed as selecting the topic for what I am writing. The second level is the research phase and the writing of the outline.…

Who doesn’t struggle with writing? I know I always have struggled with writing, for the longest time I didn’t even really understand the differences in sentences, and it is something that’s still confuses me a little bit. To be completely honest I sometimes procrastinate longer than I should when it comes to writing, so I don’t always review the finished product the way I should. Life gets in the way occasionally, and I attempt to convince myself that I have plenty of time to finish they assignment. This particularly gave me problems in high school.…

Last semester I failed English 101. The standards I hold myself to have never allowed for failure; to me a C is failure, a B is barely average, and an A is expected. Before last semester I had never even failed an assignment, much less an entire class. There were many contributing factors to my failure, but ultimately I only have myself to blame. My weaknesses as a writer played a significant role during my struggle last semester, including procrastination, organization, and run on sentences.…

For most students, the problem with writing is that it takes a lot more mental effort and time than some most tasks so understandably they don't want to do it. I have mixed feelings about writing. I feel like once I sit down to start writing, I either have way too much to say, or too little. When I have a lot to say, writing becomes frustrating because I try to get all of my thoughts out quickly, but it is difficult to do that but still make the writing flow and be enjoyable to read. When I have too little, it is also frustrating because I cannot go in depth with my thoughts, and then there is really no purpose to the essay at all.…
