Personal Narrative: My Husband Juan

My husband Juan is a man who is proud to serve his country in the U.S. Navy as a Naval Aircrewman. He became a rescue swimmer in 2006 and has accomplished five rescues. While currently being stationed in Key West, his last rescue was a few months ago that involved eight people on a green refugee boat who had been out in the ocean for weeks. The woman on the boat needed serious medical assistance. The Coast Guard called the Naval Air Station Key West, Search and Rescue aircrew because none of the coast guards on duty were able to speak Spanish. Luckily, for the search and rescue aircrew, my husband Juan is bilingual. As the search and rescue crew started getting geared up and ready to fly, they try not to get themselves overwhelmed with excitement that they are being given the opportunity to complete a rescue mission because they have had many false alarms.

I appreciate him for his support and guidance. He is very wise and constantly thinks three steps ahead. As the supervisor of the rescue swimmers, he is the most selfless individual I have ever met. He is without a doubt an outstanding leader by example. He treats his crewmen as if they were his family being emotionally involved with his crew and he has never called out at work for displaying any kind of bad temperament or accused of being arrogant My husband Juan is dedicated in everything he does, but most particularly his occupation.
