Infact I have ridden several horses that are ones that my family has owned and several of my friends horses. on the day of the incident it started pretty normal i woke up went outside and did my chores which at the time was feeding my steer and also the other animals. then i went inside to eat breakfast with my dad. after we ate we went to my family ranch which is owned by my dad and uncle. Once we got around to the back we started to push them. Once we got them going dad and hank rode around to the front while ryan and i stayed back to push the cattle. After a while we came to a gate where most of the cattle had already gone through but there was one yearling that wouldn't go through so ryan and I took off on our horses after it. We were running through the brush dodging branches and big oak bushes. Then after we located the yearling we got in front of him. We thought we had it trapped however yearlings can dodge through the bushes faster than we can. First …show more content…
so i pushed my saddle back in top of my horse and tightened the cinch. and crawled back on top of him. Ryan and I rode for the gate that we had previously been at. There we met my dad and Hank who were waiting for us. I still didn't have all of my breath back but I told my dad what happened and he said “well it's a long ride out and we can't drive a truck to you so you'll have to ride with us.” i said “ok” and we took off. it was the longest ride i had ever been on it seemed like but it was only 6 miles back to the truck. Every bump or jolt from the trailer my horse sent agonizing pain through my body. when we finally got back to the truck i took off the tee shirt that had been my temporary band aid and even though there was dirt inside the wound it had stopped bleeding. It was a long drive out of there as the road was bumpy. we got back to the the ranch we unloaded our horses and saddled them. after this had been done i went to the shop sink and rinsed all the dirt and gunk out of my wound. it was incredibly tender so i was carfull. after this had been done dad and I went home where i laid on our couch still sore from what happened. i took some ibuprofen and went to bed. However i woke up several times in the night as i would roll over on my side and a stinging pain would surge through my body. after a long night of rolling around, the sun finally came up. I went down stairs and my mother examined my

My own riding career thus far had been a roller coaster ride, tendency to second guess myself battled continually with my natural instincts. Over thinking things led me to over riding, and my mixed signals led my horse to produce ignorance. My consistence hesitation caused my horse and I to become mentally stuck. Each lesson was an interminable cycle of frustration, never reaching nirvana. Riding requires both horse and rider to become one.…

I remember while growing up, my parents (mostly my father) would ask when I was going to grow up and “get over horses”. I first fell in love with horses when I was four-years-old because of an Australian movie called “The Rogue Stallion” (1990) my mother bought when a Christian catalog had a sale on VHSs. The movie follows Anna, a teenager whose father works with horses and is accidentally killed by a spooked horse one day. Anna’s mother wants her daughter to have nothing to do with horses, especially the wild Brumby stallion her father’s old rival is set on destroying.…

What is summer? The majority of kids, if asked, will tell you that summer signifies the end of school, the start of fun and freedom. You will find some kids at the pool, the mall, or sleeping in. Many stay home and play video games, while others go to the beach. Instead of spending my time at the pool or with friends, I hung-out with furry, four-legged beast and some rambunctious two-legged, little people.…

A head of 1,000 cattle could stretch over two miles. The drivers would work in pairs, with one on each side of the cattle, with the best up front (pointers) all else in the middle (flank and swing), as well as the drag men who were at the end making sure all the cattle were following. Their only communication was hand signals that had been adapted from the Plains Indian sign language, or they would use gestures with hats in order to get attention from other crew members. The crew would start they cattle drive in the spring time during round up because the grass was plentiful and not only could the cattle build up weight but they could be delievered by the time the winter months would set…

All I could see was the ground coming closer and closer to my face as I fell for the first time off the back of a horse. There was a teenage boy jumping in front of me, trying to stop the run away and keep me from hurting anything on my very small, frail body, but to no avail. I hit the ground hard, gasps and screams echoing in my ears and ate a few mouthfuls of dirt, sand and horse manure. Being only 5 and having the gritty feeling of sand stuck between my teeth I burst into tears and lay on the wet sand until an adult came to my aid. I was then walked to the hose to rinse my mouth and it was then that I remember feeling the sting in my hands and looking down to witness pieces of sand stuck beneath my skin.…

The Good Times As D.H. Lawrence listens to a woman singing and playing piano, he experiences a moment of involuntary memory that is connected to his mother. In his poem “Piano”, Lawrence begins by stating, “softly in the dusk, a woman is singing to me” (1). By using descriptive text throughout the poem, Lawrence illustrates the memory of, “hymns in the cozy parlor, the tinkling piano our guide” (8). Lawrence explains that the singer is “taking me back down the vista of years” which makes it clear that the music the singer played has a strong connection with that his mother used to play (2). He uses imagery to illustrate the climax of the poem, as well as, his real vision of the memory which is likely “the old Sunday evenings, with winter…
