Looking back on it, on how I got to where I am. I don't know how i did it, when you run into something ,with the power to knock you down- you get back up! I've considered myself a sort of mellow guy, but I can be very intense. It's funny because you can't tell by looking at me. Most people say they can't read me, but I think i am a fairly simple guy.…
Growing up I was always the tallest kid in the class. Whenever class picture day rolled around, I knew that I was in the front of the line because of my height. It was somewhat embarrassing when all the boys were shorter than I, and the girls made me feel bad for how out of place I was. Not only did my height provide social awkwardness, it also administered the constant, never ending struggle of finding garments long enough. Whenever my mom or grandmothers wanted to take me back to school shopping, I made excuses of “I don’t need any more habiliments” or “I do not feel good, all of the sudden…”…
Track and field has been the highlight of my high school life. The social aspect, the large assortment of events from which to choose, and the people I met are things I will always treasure. I especially loved the fact that there was always a place for everyone. If you weren’t too quick, then discus was your event. If you could build up quick bursts of speed, long and triple jumps suited you.…
"I doubt she will ever graduate high school" was a sentence expressed to my family members, it was regarding me. These discouraging words were spoken out of the mouth of my own father. While eavesdropping I overheard this statement when I was in my freshman year, and I believed him. The thought of not graduating replayed in my head throughout the majority of my high school career. For an extensive period of time, that statement prevented me from reaching my full potential.…
“Choose a career that will always be needed,” my economics teacher said. It was 3:50 p.m and I was here, sitting in the lobby of a clinic thinking about everything and nothing at the same time. There were at least thirty-five kids here waiting their turn anxiously. My niece’s name was called and we walked into a hallway filled with medical equipment.…
Everyone changes at least once during their time in high school. Over the last few years, I have been through a variety of challenges. God has blessed me with an amazing four years of learning; not only just in school, but also in life. One can only make so many mistakes before he or she learns from them. I do not have many regrets in my high school career, but I am glad that I was able to learn from them.…
Is college worth it? Should I go? What do I want to major in? These questions were quite common in my head my Senior year. Earlier this year, I successfully passed through one milestone in my life: Graduate High School.…
High school changes people. They express themselves, become opinionated, and they start to look at the world differently as they experience things they have never encountered before. A wise Oliver Wendell Holmes said, “Man’s mind stretched to a new idea never goes back to its original dimensions.” This quote is an excellent way to describe my experience in high school.…
Though I am not even half way through my high school career, I feel as if I can still be a help to those who are just beginning. High school is probably the most important part of your life that you are responsible for in our teenage years, so it is important not to mess it up. There are a few concepts that I have figured out by myself that I wished someone would have told me. Those of which include never procrastinate, think about your future, learn how to manage your time, and do not settle for less than your best. My first recommendation is that you don’t procrastinate.…
All I had done before, was focus on my classes and help out others whenever I could. In high school, my plan was to focus on my classes and even challenge myself with AP courses. Sweet and simple. In reality, life is so quick to change and the high school path can be a rocky with twist and turns. Just as in my freshman year, I had planned to play softball, but quickly turned away when I was told that I could, “Break my arm playing.”…
“Every story has an end, but in life every ending is just a new beginning.” -Dakota Fanning This quote reflects my high school experience because I thought that once I finished middle school it would have been the end of my journey. Of course I was wrong, it was only the beginning.…
The end of the day comes whether you have gotten up to do something productive or if you have simply remained inanimate while time moves around you. I have found that the present slips away while you are worrying about the future. We are constantly telling ourselves that if we just get through this, then everything after will be better. We forget to appreciate the moment while constantly reaching for a hypothetically more fulfilling life. Once we graduate high school, or get through a challenging class, or finish a workout, everything after will get easier.…
When I first heard of the $25,000 challenge I was excited yet hesitant. It was definitely a nice change from the previous assignments; however, focusing on what qualities I possess that set me apart from the rest of my peers, deeming me worthy of such a substantial amount of money, still seems wrong. On the other hand, I, being the wonderful student that I am, must put all moral objections to the back of my magnificent mind and get on my high horse to step up to the challenge. One does not have to search high and low to find a good, no, great student. I sport a 4.0 GPA and have never made below a 95 in any of my high school courses.…
Four years of high school really changes a person and if I could go back and tell my freshman self one thing I would tell myself to give one hundred percent at all times always go above and beyond. My freshman year was full of getting involved joining new clubs, and widening my horizons which was great but I never put school work first. Now being a senior I see this and want to help other freshman see what school is all about. New students that came into my school can difficult especially because my school is smaller.…
Throughout my years in high school, I have come to understand and appreciate how important my high school was in helping me prepare for my life as an adult. High school is not just a series of required courses and fun extracurricular activities. Instead it is helping me discover and understand myself for setting my life goals. I am currently enrolled in AP, honors, and dual credit courses along with a high level of interest in sports activities, especially soccer. This consumes a large portion of my time but I am also involved in a wide variety of extracurricular activities along with time for work as well as community service activities.…
