Hey guys it's Haley, and as you can tell by the title, I decided to make a part two of my high school terrors just because I went to Reagan last night. Last night, I attended the Reagan open house and you could say that it went well. Once I arrived, I noticed the abundant amount of other kids that would also be applying to Reagan. That made me a little nervous. We all sat in the auditorium as a couple Reagan seniors talked to us about the opportunities that Reagan offers and basically their Reagan story. That made me feel a little bit better. 20 minutes later, they started doing tours of the school. By touring, I mean going to almost every single classroom. There were things that interested me and things I didn't really care about, but otherwise

"Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty and persistence" I have had many ups and downs over the course of my life thus far. One specific example of this took place during my freshman year of high school. When I started high school it was very challenging for me, partially due to the fact that; during this time, I was lazy, unmotivated and did not really take school seriously. This by far is one of my biggest regrets to this day. Who would ever think that not trying during my freshman year would continue to follow me throughout the course of my academic career.…

It was the end of junior year when Wieman nominated several people, myself included, to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum on National Security in Washington D.C.. I had never been to the East coast so I jumped at the chance to go. It was extremely costly but strings were pulled and I actually came up with the $2000 tuition. Although it broke my wallet, it was by far the best six days of my life. I had an amazing journey and the destination was nothing to sneeze at either.…

Before high school, I always thought I was an average student, but when I transitioned into high school, people started to point out that I had potential. The semester before my freshman year I applied to an early college high school; I knew that I was going to have more work than if I had went to the traditional high school, but I knew I could do it. At first I was doing well, but as time went on the work became more challenging and frequent eventually my grades fell and took my pride with it. I wanted to transfer to the traditional high school in my neighborhood, but changed my mind after a talk with one of my professors. She helped me to recognize that if I quit not only would I be throwing away the work that I did do, but I’d also be preventing myself from seeing what work I could do. I took that seed of information and turned it into a tree of motivation.…

The secretary was calling teachers and asking if Leah and I could observe and the first few teachers said “no.” they mentioned that they were not ready for an observation. It was confusing because the secretary told the teachers that we were intern, then practicum students and finally just observers. While we were waiting I was able to observe that there was one teacher close to the main door entrance. She was greeting everyone that walked through the doors with a “good morning” and a smile.…

In the Spring of last year, it was my Junior year, one of the most critical years in high school. It’s the year that colleges look at the most, also it was the year that I was in some of the most challenging classes. Mostly honors, a lot of homework, and tests to go along with it. Studying would take me until late at night, and even on weekends, all day long. When it’s the end of the term everyone checks their grades for their report cards, and progress reports.…

Track and field has been the highlight of my high school life. The social aspect, the large assortment of events from which to choose, and the people I met are things I will always treasure. If you could build up quick bursts of speed, long and triple jumps suited you.…

High school changes people. They express themselves, become opinionated, and they start to look at the world differently as they experience things they have never encountered before. A wise Oliver Wendell Holmes said, “Man’s mind stretched to a new idea never goes back to its original dimensions.” This quote is an excellent way to describe my experience in high school.…

In the seventh grade, I faced a large transition in life. The previous year I had experienced middle school for the first time, but I would make that entrance again. I moved from Texas to North Dakota, where seventh grade was the first year of middle school. I took on those same fears and hopes that I had faced before, but in an unfamiliar place where I had no one except for family to give me support. I tried a lot of new things that year, mainly wrestling.…

The end of the day comes whether you have gotten up to do something productive or if you have simply remained inanimate while time moves around you. I have found that the present slips away while you are worrying about the future. We are constantly telling ourselves that if we just get through this, then everything after will be better. We forget to appreciate the moment while constantly reaching for a hypothetically more fulfilling life. Once we graduate high school, or get through a challenging class, or finish a workout, everything after will get easier.…
