Personal Narrative: My High School Career

As a child in elementary, I struggled grasping concepts and was borderline in my education. I doubted my ability to learn and show progress like my other classmates. In middle school, I worked hard every day using all the possible resources I could to make sure I was able to stay on track with my other classmates. I felt frustrated that I had to study more than average to grasp a concept that was so simple to others. I wanted to go over and beyond, so the summer before I started high school I spent my vacation taking three classes to start my high school career. I felt empowered I felt more confident in my education than I have ever been before. It felt good, so I made the choice to continue feeling empowered. So, Every summer in high school I did the same thing every summer getting ahead. For once I felt I was finally on the same page as my classmates maybe even further than average. The beginning of my junior year my counselor pulled me aside and asked me if I wanted to graduate high school a year early. My thoughts were a series of mixed emotions, I finally did it and felt accomplished but was I good enough for college? I managed to graduate top 20% in a class that was not my own. I have never felt so complete and accomplished in my life. I knew this was not the end for me, I continued my education on a collegiate level. I received my Associate’s degree in May 2016. Today, I am a student at the University of Texas at Arlington majoring in public relations with a minor in advertising. The college experience taught me more than I could ever be grateful for. A communication degree was not my first choice; I went through many majors before realizing I was destined for this
