But at the same time I felt like I needed to do something for myself.
The North Cascades Institute Youth Leadership Adventures summer camp was a camp for 16 days during the month of July. The course that I attended was the Science and Sustainability course. Where I learned about climate change, the history of The North Cascades and gained new leadership skills; while camping in the back country and canoeing up Ross Lake. In the camping trip, my group first spent 8 days canoeing up Ross Lake and camping at the campsites along Ross Lake trail. The first camp site we stayed at, was Green Point for one night. The next campsite we stayed at was Ponda Rosa which was for two nights. Then the next campsite we stayed at was Lightning Creek for three nights. And the last campsite we stayed at along Ross Lake was Cat Island campsite for two nights. All of that was new to me. I had never gone camping before at an actual campsite. When I would go "camping" with my cousins, it would be at our parents property in a small town name Custer. But the experience I had at the North Cascades was totally different. It was the most beautiful place I have ever seen and experienced. I remember when we were first arriving, by canoeing, as we were getting closer to the shoreline to stop and have a small meeting with all the group. One of our instructors told us that that Devils Creek was a special place for a lot people, that everyone thought that it was a beautiful place, and it is. But she told us that most of those would look at the beauty but not see beneath it. For example, When you see a really pretty sea shell sitting along the shore of the sea, half way buried under the sand. You pick it up and see how pretty it is. But you didn't look because you didn’t actually take time too look at the shell and notice the colors it is, the little cracks it has, the design on the outside and in the
