Improved Essays
Joseph Campbell was a scholar who studied ancient mythology for many years. He came up with the idea of the Hero’s Journey. The Hero’s Journey says that all the heroes will come across many processes throughout their journey. Each of the processes gets the hero closer to his/her prize. Perhaps I am not a hero, but I have experienced many things on leaving my home state and coming to a foreign one. My life as a kid is just like Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey because I have had to leave my ordinary world ,also I have had many mentors in my life that taught me great things.
My family and I lived in a small country. El Salvador is small and its economy is in a poor situation right now. My mother, siblings, and I lived in a big enough house

I asked my mom about it once again. She had a really sad expression on her face when I asked her about. She decided that it was time to tell the truth. The reason why the newborn came to our home was because his real mother didn't want him. “..He is part of our family from now on.” was my mother’s response. Although we aren't from the same blood we still are family.
Our family hadn’t decided on what to name our new family member. We came to the conclusion that his name would be Diego. Everyone in my mom's side of the family came to visit us and congratulate us. Diego has changed our lives since the day he came to our house. Soon enough things had started to change from that day on.
Four years later and Diego was a kid and not a baby anymore. Those four years Diego and I had plenty of fun. He and I defended each other from our older siblings. If one of us was crying then we both comforted one another, we were also very naughty. Diego and I hid from my mom whenever we use to get in trouble.
A year later my dad had called us, he wanted me to talk to me, but I was uncomfortable with him. He and I didn’t have a great relationship back then. I tried to ignore him as much as I could because I was enraged with him. He had left us, I had not known him or met him. He was fixing our passports for us to be able to be with

I didn't really know what to say to him. I was excited and happy at the same time. My aunt went to pick us up too. we had a warm welcome. It took us about two hours to get to our new house. When we got to the house I was really sleepy. I met my other aunt, she lived with us, she had a son. We also had a dog. I touched the dog while it was eating and it bit me. The dog ripped my shirt, but I wasn't hurt or anything.
Weeks later I started school, I was nervous about it. I didn't know how to speak english, so I didn't know how to communicate with the other students. I met a really cool teacher at my new school. He was the teacher that I trusted the most. He and I could communicate, he also understood me and taught me english in a year. I learned a lot of things in the three years that I spent with my teacher in elementary school. I have been doing great in school since I met the best teacher ever. I have improved a lot ever since I met Mr.Strickland.
My life is just like Joseph Campbell’s Heroe’s Journey because I went through a rough time believing and trusting my dad. I lived without my youngest brother for five years. I left my ordinary world and headed towards something very different. My mentor was very helpful and I learned a great amount of things from him. I adjusted to my new world, I also conquered my

Society's favorite superhero stories would not exist without the implementation of a specific archetype. This archetype is none other than the hero’s journey. Developed by famous mythologist Joseph Campbell, the hero’s journey exists as a metaphor for life itself, with its main function being to entertain, instruct and inspire. Campbell identified a pattern repeated in literature, allowing him to formulate a three stage process: separation, initiation and the return. The monomyth is centered around the notion of two worlds: the mundane, which the hero is born into, and the fantastic, filled with adventure.…

Throughout human history, recurring stories and themes pop up around the world, crossing borders of both language and culture. Though they can vary from tales of a great flood to how the world came to be, the most common and easily-identifiable is the Hero’s Journey. Outlined by Joseph Campbell, the Hero’s Journey is the story of a great person travelling to a strange, otherworldly place (literal or metaphorical,) facing a fearsome enemy, and returning to the “normal” world having gained wisdom and experience. The most famous of these tales, like The Odyssey or the Epic of Gilgamesh, have masculine heroes, defined by traits like bravery, strength, or fearlessness. However, two famous stories of a descent into a literal and metaphorical underworld…

It was getting colder by the hour and what seemed to be a small forest turned into an enduring hike. Everyone was exhausted you could see the nervousness and wary in their eyes. There was this unusual eery silence no one seemed to talk, the only thing you could hear was the crunching of the leaves underneath our worn-out feet and the chirping and howling of the creatures of the night that the autumn wind threw our way. I took a deep breath in , inhaling the bitter medicine from my inhaler, this was my fifth puff in the past hour and it wasn't really helping, my lungs were slowly tightening.…
