However, I was not alone through this leadership, I had a partner by my side. With this partner our traits and skills as leaders exemplified through our collaboration, and the result of it, was a memorable and beneficial moment for myself and the children we were held in charge of. It was a heartwarming feeling to know that we were able to contribute to the students’ happiness. These students now have memories that will last them a lifetime and to be a part of that is more than I could have ever wanted from being a leader. To those who were not fortunate enough to have grown up at summer camp, this might not seem like such a big decision to make. But Coleman was my outlet, my second home for ten consecutive summers and spending those two months anywhere else seemed inconceivable to me.…

To me a person who is a leader leads by example. Ever since I was in middle school I have tried to always do the right thing and guide my peers into a direction that is best for them. Since coming to Woodberry my Freshman year I feel as though I have grown stronger in this trait. One example that stands out particularly is when I was on the Bengal football team, and it was a scorching day early on in the year. While being a volunteer at Safety Town for Aurora Schools, the other volunteers and I were given two or three kids to watch. We helped the kids with activities, such as crafts and reading stories. Although I do not often find myself in formal leadership positions, I believe that my willingness to volunteer and serve others has had a positive effect on those around me. The small and simple ways I lead sometimes go unnoticed but that has only made my sacrifice more special to me and, I hope, to those I have served. Selfless service creates a love that I cannot describe. Some of my dearest friends were made when I found myself the giver or receiver of such priceless love.…

Ever since I was eight, I would travel to an all girls camp, during the summer, called “The Summer Camp”. The trip was an 8 hour death ride from Manhattan, New York City to Washington, Maine. The first time I arrived, I hated it, because campers could not obtain electronic devices, as mentioned before, Maine was far from my home, and lastly, my comfort zone was an urban, fast pace city, not the woods. Additionally, the camp had schedules to follow. Breakfast started at 8 am and ended at 9:30 am, then activities would last for the next four hours, after activities, girls were to go back to their cabins and rest for an hour, then go for lunch.…
