All my first experiences happened in Arizona. Believe it or not, the first time I ever saw snow was up north in Flagstaff, Arizona. One thing I remember the most was, being taught how to play baseball. I fell in love with this sport first. I spent the most time in the back yard being taught how to swing and throw a baseball. I remember being so frustrated at times, rather him being mad at me, he pushed me to reach for my goals. We were lucky enough to be able to go to Arizona Diamondback games. I can still visualize going to the huge baseball stadium. The feeling of walking through the crowds of people, almost feeling suffocated, and then walking to see the field was the greatest feeling ever. Something I will never forget. My dad also took me to my first college and pro football games. Hockey games as well. I was able to experience this with my Dad, and occasionally my mom would tag

The Federalists who held power in Mexico left me, my fellow armadillos, and the Anglo Americans alone to enjoy and work the land. However, in 1829, the Centralists gained control of the Mexican government and the freedom we enjoyed gradually eroded. As the Mexican government imposed more regulations on the Anglo Americans, the tension which had existed between the two groups due to the Nacogdoches land grant, become even more palpable.…

The traces in my mind of my life in Tennessee escaped my thoughts as the salt water breeze took them away. The blankets of snow, that I once knew, turned into white grains of sand that coated the steps of every shop and the bright green blades of grass were now blue curves of water that left me in a trance with every movement. Each house by the shore was painted a different bright color and was home to a collection of beach related trinkets, including broken shells, used as decor, and sand filled jars which were left by past visitors. A hammock was hung on the top story which became my safe haven of fresh air and solitude. Each morning I swung to the slow, crashing of the waves as the sun began to rise.…

I remember watching games on the weekends and getting together with others to watch big games and tournaments, I still do to this very day. Seeing the excitement and passion being let out just by watching a game on television made me wonder what it would feel like in an actual live game. It got to the point where while watching a game I would focus more on those who were at the game and everything else going on, for example, their reactions to things like celebrations or frustrations. Most of my family had at least been to one professional soccer game in their life time since they lived…

I worried about it for the weeks leading up to the first practice, but eventually I decided “Why not? It may end up being fun.”…
