Jonathan could have told me right then and there, but he wanted to add suspense. I was a gullible kid growing up. Well, I still consider myself as a kid, since I didn’t really mature much since then. I guess I am just slightly less gullible now. Anyways, growing up in Fort Lee, New Jersey really shaped me into the kid or “young adult” I am today. As corny as it sounds, I actually do remember it like it was yesterday. I was in 7th grade and attended the Lewis F. Cole middle school in Fort Lee. This was the year where my entire social life changed. I started to go out more, spending more time with my friends rather than stay home. I also made more friends this year since this is the first time I truly interacted with kids from other elementary schools. This whole process was extremely overwhelming for the average awkward, 13 year old boy, but to add to this, we were introduced to different girls.

We went to see Spring Breakers just because we wanted to see if we can sneak in without getting caught. We made it into the movie by crawling on sticky, popcorn butter scented floors. I had planned perfectly to sit next to the girl. An hour or so passed by and I thought now would be the best time to talk to her, in the middle of the movie. This gave me the brilliant idea to, right then and there, ask her to be my girlfriend. The sound of her voice echoed throughout the theater, everyone heard the rejection. I finished the night sitting next to her waiting for the movie to

I was ten years ago and I can still vividly remember sitting on an old, wooden rocking chair while the words of The Very Hungry Caterpillar trembled off my lips to a room full of second graders. I can recall the eagerness and excitement that filled their little faces as I flipped from page to page. There was an abundance of curiosity and desire to learn in that classroom that made me happy that I decided on skipping recess to read to the younger students. There was a fire that lit in my ten-year-old body that day. That was the day where I finally had an answer to all the “What do you want to be when you grow up?”…

Uncle Benito had the crazy idea of going to the snow all because my mother had never seen the snow. My mother told me of a hill she sled down from, a great slope that didn’t leave her feeling to good “No me siento muy bien.” My uncle rushed her to Granada Hills Hospital on the morning of March 19, 1996; I was born seven pounds at eight minutes until eight.…

She would slowly read word-for-word and demonstration what she was reading, and of course show each picture she came across. Once she finished reading to us, now we sit at our color orientated tables learning the alphabet and numbers. The Day I Grew Up Walking down the road to my first job was the day I realized my life had changed. My first real responsibilities were beginning and accountability was starting to crawl its way into my life. I would have to sacrifice countless hours of free time, hanging out with friends, and sleep in order to work. I relate to Schoonover because like her on the weekends, I would go to the lake with my friends and out to lunch with them. Also, since I acquired the job, I would need to start paying for necessities and extracurricular activities on my own.…
