Personal Narrative: My Group Experience

Improved Essays
During and after the group project I got a better understanding of NAVAL and a better understanding of my group. For example, Lexi is the leader of the group and Camille is the worker bee meaning that she is the one to go to for the information about the presentation. There were many high points in the group such as when we completed are power point early and when we researched the information. I had a blast working with them. A low point was when the video couldn’t load and we had to start from scratch again. Also in the beginning when we couldn’t decide on a name or a movie.
At the beginning of the group project I felt nervous because one I have stage fright and also I didn’t know what to expect of my group. I made a few assumptions bout

Everyone in my group deserves the same grade because Camille she took on the task role she made sure that everyone was on task and knew what they were doing. Second, Terrance took on the individual role he would be in his own little world, but he would be researching information for the project. Lastly, Lexi took on the social role she would be the one who talked to everyone. However everyone in the group worked cohesively.
I liked how Camille was sort of the secretary she wrote down the ideas and gave her own opinion about them. She was the one who kept us on task and sent notes about the project. What she could improve on from what I saw during the presentation was her delivery. Since she had two power point slides I thought she could be more assertive when she presented. It seemed like she was a little uncomfortable when she spoke. She could also improve on looking toward the audience. However I did like how she explained the slides for nonverbal and verbal

The main challenge of this group situation is that there was a sudden rise of conflict among members at the beginning to mid phase of the project. This resulted the possible development of groupthink (Janis, 2008). As a leader in this situation, I would firstly feel lousy and disappointed in myself that I didn’t take note of group’s division and how the meeting could be more inclusive of everyone’s opinion (Chadha, 2016). However, at that point, I would also probably feel confused but yet curious as to why it was suddenly voiced out, hence thought that I should facilitate to explicit the thoughts and feelings of each member to better understand as well.…

My experience has been interesting, positive, and at the same time rewarding. My very first experience with working in group was couple of years ago during a final year project, in my country of birth. The project was in community medicine, and involved repeated trip to a rural community by my group to access their health status, and needs. We had many challenges, but overcame them all as a group. I learnt the act of collaboration, critical thinking, problem solving, decision making by consensus building, and most importantly; comradeship.…

The team of four that I decided to work with were Abby R, Ben, and Emily T. Overall, I liked my choice of group members. We all got along pretty well with each other, and it helped that I knew Abby and Ben on a personal level. This allowed us to get together at each other’s houses, and work together on the project. This allowed for a much easier collaborative environment, and it also allowed us to collaborate on everything together, instead of one person being assigned one part, and the other person another. I feel like this was a much easier way of creating the presentation, rather than having everybody independent of each other.…

not to use this type of nonverbal message is because it can cause confusion in the mind of the receiver(s). Another piece of material that I use is critical listening. When critically listening, I always pay attention to the speaker's ethos, pathos, and logos. I pay close attention to these different attributes so that I am able to determine how credible, reasonable, and trustworthy a speaker's information is. One theory that I have been able to implement while trying to complete various activities with other people is the Group Dynamics Theory.…

Her word choice was carefully picked, precise and clean. Her tone was a calm yet persistent one where one could see how subtle but also determined she was on her work. She would pause just enough to make a clean speech, she didn’t hurry off or seemed nervous in any way which only interested the audience into paying attention to her. However, one may think that she would have an even more effective speech if she would of played with her voice a little more or do some sort of hand gestures. If she would have changed her voice into a stronger one she maybe could have expressed some strong feeling that wasn’t empathy or remorse.…

There were 12 members in my LAPD group presentation including myself. It was my first time having to work with people that I have just met to produce a 50-minute presentation. Before forming a group, I was worried as we are to work in big groups and group size is one of the main factors that may affect a group performance. At first, I felt like we could not delegate our roles equally, as I had past experiences of doing most of the group work.…
