My blanket is a very special artifact, it has been with me many years. The beautiful colors on it remind me of a rainbow they stand out perfectly, and it is very soft and comfortable, it is from the store Vera Bradley along with my lucky pencil. It has my name on it so no one can steal it. Also when I was a child it went everywhere with me, to the mall, target, and even grocery shopping. My mother bought me this blanket, for my birthday. I got a long time ago and it is still sitting at the end of my bed today. My volleyball is the best thing I have had in years, I can play with it for hours a day!. It is bright blue and red, with white stripes. As you can see, volleyball is my favorite sport, and even though I’m not that good at it I still

It’s five o’clock sharp when I walk into the restaurant, embracing the warmth of the heaters and the mix of chatter overpowering the sounds of the grill and coffee machine. The warm lighting from the light fixtures hanging above every table sets the tone for large gatherings and romantic date nights in contrast to the mix of Spanish and indie pop music that plays together in harmony. Customers gather around the counters, trying to put in the last orders to the cashiers, as the workers starts to shift the restaurant from counter to table service. I am a waitress at Soho Park, an American restaurant known for its burgers and fries. Located two blocks away from Broadway on the corner of Prince and Lafayette Street, it is a prime location for…

Andy’s Deli is located at 857 Greene Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11221. For personal reasons the owner, Andy did not want his last name to be included in this interview. As I proceeded to ask my questions for this interview he had a huge grin on his face, “I have never been interviewed before and no one has really asked me for my opinion other than what sandwiches are good here”. Andy is forty-six years old and owns the bodega in northern Brooklyn that supplies almost everything you need daily, from snacks to soap. When he moved to Brooklyn from Columbia almost twenty-five years ago he decided to open up the store to make a living and provide money for his family.…

Managing to break free from my mother’s grasp, I charged. With arms flailing and chubby legs fluttering beneath me, I was the ferocious two year old rampaging through Costco on a Saturday morning. My mother’s eyes widened in horror as I jettisoned my churro; the cinnamonsugar rocket gracefully sliced its way through the air while I continued my spree. I sprinted through the aisles, looking up in awe at the massive bulk products that towered over me. Overcome with wonder, I wanted to touch and taste, to stick my head into industrialsized freezers, to explore every crevice.…

As a kid, I had no responsibilities other than school, and sometimes sports. I was fortunate enough to not have to do chores, or have a job at an early age. I essentially, could manage my time how I pleased; playing Xbox, baseball, being on my phone whenever, as long as I kept my grades up and wasn't in trouble. My parents gave me this privilege, because they knew what a well-behaved kid I was, and somehow trusted that my Dad’s work ethic would eventually just naturally rub off on me when the time was right. Although my experience sounds great, I felt empty, because I wasn't doing anything productive.…

One of my mother’s greatest prides in life was her family. You could tell she was delighted in her close knit family by how she greeted everyone who wandered through the door. Throughout the day, countless family members would make their way in and out of my house, or what it was commonly called, Oak Street Deli. My cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents would stop by to get a second opinion of a major, or minor, life event from my mother then grab a bite to eat. When one would open the front door of our bungalow, they would be greeted with the smell of that night's dinner, my mother’s laugh bouncing off the walls, and a sense of belonging.…

If I were to rethink my diet, I would be able to change a lot of eating choices. I would be able to eat more fruits and vegetables because I hardly eat any at all. I should eat less processed food and eating more food that I can cook myself that tastes better and is healthier. In an effort to distract myself from the pain, I began to mentally go through my favorite scenes from Harry potter, but even the thought of my favorite book couldn’t keep my mind off my discomfort for long. When I was young, I spent a lot of time at my grandparent’s house. This was the place that my grandparents’ children and grandchildren gathered, because it felt like home to everyone. We did this to be together; having a strong sense of family was very important to us, at the time. When recalling the living room that we gathered in, the living room in which I spent most of my childhood, I feel strongly reminiscent. The living room was fairly large, the walls a pale beige, and floors a light oak.…
